LMI seeks a skilled Systems Engineer to support a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) PMO in the National Capital Region. Assist the Office of Acquisition (OA) in all activities involving Systems Engineering Management (SEM) of the OA portfolio of programs, projects, demonstrations; and other efforts as directed by Systems Engineering leadership. Including either direct or matrixed (support another function or discipline within division) support to OA Lead Systems Engineers (LSEs) for the OA portfolio of programs.

  • Provide support to LSEs (working closely with program/project leadership and applicable IPTs and System Engineering (SE) Directorate leadership/personnel) to deliver a compliant solution while balancing cost, schedule, and performance risk factors.
  • Properly apply systems engineering policies and processes and ensure high workmanship standards and compliance with DHS and CBP systems engineering standards / procedures.
  • Lead the program SELC tailoring development and preparing the final SELC Tailoring Plan for program management staffing.
  • In coordination with the assigned Program Manager (and applicable leadership teams), provide oversight, development and technical leadership of engineering documents as identified in the program/project SELC Tailoring Plan.
  • Provide program leadership of all technical matters relating to the product(s).



  • Minimum of a BS/BA degree and 3-10 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with large scale DoD projects and risk management process.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience across all phases of the DHS SELC.
  • Excellent consulting, written, and verbal communication skills to support and manage customers and clients.
  • Must be self-directed, detail oriented, and able to coordinate and work with a dynamic team and multiple stakeholders.
  • Able to communicate effectively and confidently with end users, technologists, team members, and executive management.
  • Process driven analysis skills and a background in various requirements elicitation methods.
  • Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance abuse, and employment verifications; active U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation preferred. Please note that only U.S. citizens are eligible for a suitability determination.


  • Familiarity with DHS 102- 01- 001, Appendix B and the CBP Program Lifecycle Process Guide.
  • Experienced in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches, methodologies, and tools.
  • Experience with systems modeling languages such as SysML, UML, UPDM, UAF, and others.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or software engineering preferred.
