LMI seeks a Senior Acquisition Specialist to support a Department of the Navy customer. This is a part time positon at 20 hours per week. Join our team of collaborative self-starters focused on delivering practical and efficient solutions to help to modernize the U.S. Navy at the Pace of Need. The Senior Acquisition Specialist serves as the Government's advisor and Subject Matter Expert for acquisition activities and will directly support a new strategic modernization program. As part of our high-performing team, you will help spearhead our vital work to develop and implement an acquisition strategy for the Navy to improve its strategic data accuracy asset visibility, accountability, and auditability.

  • As a Senior Acquisition Specialist, you will assist senior leadership by providing subject matter expertise regarding DoD acquisition pathways applied to a strategic modernization program.
  • You will assist the Navy Program Manager (PM) in providing team leadership, guidance, and acquisition support with a focus on streamlining the use of tailored adaptive acquisition pathway frameworks to enable delivery of the Navy's modernization program. You will apply modernized processes and practices aligned with emerging technologies for maximum agility and efficiency to accommodate dynamic requirements. Your interdisciplinary IPT will adapt to changing environments and end user demands, providing a comprehensive perspective on risk and mission objectives for effective avoidance of risk and cost.
  • Develop artifacts required by the DoD 5000.02 Adaptive Acquisition Framework (AAF) to successfully obtain a milestone decision authority approval.
  • Develop and support the management of program plans, task trackers and schedules that comply with the program's requirements.
  • Work with the Navy PM to establish and monitor the program’s execution towards milestones, key events, and significant accomplishment criteria.
  • Assist the Navy PM in tracking project cost, schedule, and technical performance.
  • Serve as the senior acquisition advisor on the execution of the acquisition approach related to integrating, testing, and fielding advanced technology packages to the operational environment.
  • Prepare Flag Officer & SES-level higher headquarters-level briefs, white papers, and memos used as the basis to support executive program recommendations and decisions.
  • Support the planning, programming, and budgeting process for resource allocation planning, congressional justifications, and acquisition planning.
  • Develop, collaborate, review and staff acquisition and requirements artifacts using the DoD 5000.02 AAF.



  • Secret Clearance is required
  • Demonstrated understanding of the DoD 5000.02 Adaptive Acquisition Framework
  • 10+ years of DoD acquisition experience
  • Bachelors degree in business, managmeent, finance or a related topic
  • Experience supporting multi-functional technical teams for large, complex programs
  • Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the acquisition and contracting lifecycle and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
  • A true team player who maintains a positive attitude in a dynamic environment.
  • Values and provides excellent customer service.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint


  • Master’s degree in business, management, finance, or a related discipline
  • Navy Acquisition background 
  • DAWIA Program Management Certification 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
