Summary Description

The Leadership Development Manager is responsible for working with key stakeholders to define and establish a recognizable leadership culture and climate within the organization. Reporting to the Talent Management Director, she/he will design and implement programs that support enterprise-wide leadership development and act as the center of gravity for leadership expertise and best-practices at LMI.


  • Manage and maintain the comprehensive suite of existing and to-be leadership development offerings, including executive and leadership development, external training opportunities, coaching, and leadership assessments.
  • Manage, implement and continuously improve LMI’s established and future leader development program(s) (e.g., Pathways Program, Leadership Coaching Program)
  • Responsible for the leader development components of the Policy Fellows and University Cooperative programs.
  • Implement leadership coaching at LMI for teams and individuals delivering assessments, evaluations and providing coaching and mentoring to mid – senior level leaders across the company.
  • Monitor and report out on the return on investment of the leadership development program annually using a variety of industry-standard metrics (e.g., 360 assessments, participant feedback, long-term strength survey) that quantify, to the extent possible, the value leadership development is bringing to LMI.
  • Coordinate and manage the various adjunct leadership capability resources (both external and internal) at LMI, including certified coaches, certified assessors, contracted expertise, etc.
  • Manage the leadership development budget, schedule, curriculum and programming for LMI.
  • Facilitate periodic focus groups and stakeholder meetings (e.g., “brown bags”) to ensure leader development offerings remain relevant to stakeholders, and maintain ongoing support from leadership at large.
  • Identify and support the implementation of industry-standard professional assessments that will be pragmatic and functional for LMI’s requirements.
  • Support other talent management initiatives as required including employee development, succession planning, workforce planning and career paths as needed.
  • In coordination with LMI Research and Information Services, maintain and act as the conduit for a collection of leadership theory references.
  • Support Service Delivery requests associated with external client requirements and leadership challenges (e.g., leadership training, best-practice or developmental expertise for client application).
  • Provide innovative learning solutions, thought leadership, and best practices in leadership development that take offerings to the next level in support of a diverse, global business.
  • Seek, share and adopt ideas and best practices inside LMI from outside the company to deliver cutting edge leader development solutions.



  • Excellent project management/planning skill, including ability to plan, organize, monitor and execute a project within budget parameters and on schedule with strong record of project execution
  • Experience in training and development/adult learning setting Knowledge of educational and learning theory
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to enable effective relationships across a variety of functions, disciplines and businesses globally
  • Ability to work with, coach, and influence all levels of leadership and employees; ability to communicate succinctly and accurately to various levels of leadership
  • Success in developing training content
  • Certifications in various programs and tools such as DDI Targeted Selection, MBTI, DiSC, Situational Leadership is preferred.
  • eLearning experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated instructional design capability, both through formal training and practical on-the-job application.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Excellent MS Office skills, preferably at an advanced level (incorporating sound, video, embedded files, custom animations).
  • Bachelor’s and Masters degree in Business or an HR/Learning and Development or related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 -10 years of experience.
  • Ability to travel.
