Overview

 

Position is on the staff of a private government consulting firm located in McLean, VA. Work will be at client location in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

 

The General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join a high performing team in the acquisition and development of a financial management Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) capability for the US Army. This is a senior position advising the Project Manager on the integration, development, and technical requirements to satisfy future enterprise management needs for the entire Army. The Senior Project Manager will lead integration IPTs and represent the PM at technical forums ensuring program office concerns are supported. The Senior Project Manager will oversee the coordination across the PM’s portfolio of systems and capabilities to lead, advise, and develop a strategy to build a cohesive plan that reduces redundancy, reduces cost, and accelerates the delivery of new capability. The incumbent will produce briefings, white papers, and other presentations. He/she will also review a technical and acquisition documents to validate they comply with the PM’s vision and goals.

Responsibilities

 

  1. Lead implementation of multiple, concurrent, cross-functional strategic IT programs and business process projects.
  2. Lead, coach, and mentor PMO personnel assigned to technical projects in any phase of the acquisition lifecycle.
  3. Develop and manage key project artifacts such as project charters, schedules, status reports, work plans, stakeholder engagement plans and decision-making model.
  4. Strategize with and advise project sponsor/business lead regarding project direction and decisions. Effectively define the issue, offer recommendations and lead the team to agreed-upon actions.
  5. Develops overall project management calendars and schedules that accurately reflect the scope of the work holistically and by initiative to ensure visibility and alignment to organization priorities and resource allocation.
  6. Appropriately works with cross functional partners to align resources against project needs and/or work collaboratively to identify and address gaps.
  7. Responsible for ensuring quality control and legal input is obtained during appropriate stage gate
  8. Develop and deliver effective presentations to senior management to communicate project updates and support effective decision making.
  9. Mobilize teams, provide tools and examples, develop work plans, coach on project management skills, provide industry expertise, and facilitate workshops.
  10. Lead and Champion the organizational understanding of and commitment to project management. Influence others through sharing of expert project management skills and building a project management excellence culture where people excel at leading and participating in projects.
  11. Leverage program lifecycle management methods, tools and techniques to constantly monitor and report on progress of project/program.
  12. Develop and present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or graduate degree in management is desirable
  • Project Management Institute PMP, or equivalent certification required
  • A verifiable history of involvement in a leadership role for large scale, complex SAP or ERP projects over their full lifecycle
  • Experience with designing, implementing project management and managing a program management office
  • Experience planning and developing cost estimates for large scale IT deployments
  • Proven experience in leading, influencing and driving change management
  • Strong management skills with proven ability to drive projects to successful completion-on time and within budget are required

 

OTHER PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in defense acquisition logistics
  • Experience supporting a Defense Business System
  • Experience with and influencing senior management
  • Employment Status: For this position, W-2 (LMI employee) employment status is highly preferred.
  • Security Clearance. For this position, a current DoD SECRET security clearance is required.
