Overview

LMI is seeking an experienced Scrum Master to support the delivery of next-generation software capabilities for U.S. Army modernization initiatives. This position requires an Active Secret security clearance.

As the Agile servant leader for one or more cross-functional software development teams, you will facilitate Agile execution, coach teams on Scrum best practices, remove delivery impediments, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Working closely with Product Owners, Technical Program Managers, Engineering Leads, UX/UI designers, DevSecOps engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and Army stakeholders, you will help ensure mission requirements are translated into secure, high-quality software delivered at operational speed. 

This role is ideal for someone passionate about enabling high-performing software teams while supporting the development of cloud-native, AI-enabled applications deployed within secure Department of Defense environments.

As a Scrum Master, you'll play a critical role in enabling Agile software delivery by helping cross-functional teams rapidly develop, test, and deploy secure, cloud-native applications that improve operational decision-making and mission effectiveness. Working alongside Product Owners, Technical Program Managers, Engineering Leads, software engineers, UX/UI designers, cybersecurity specialists, and Army stakeholders, you'll help build mission-critical software that delivers real-world impact for Soldiers operating across enterprise cloud and Tactical Edge Compute (TEC) environments.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do 

  • Serve as the Scrum Master for one or more Agile software development teams delivering next-generation software capabilities for the U.S. Army.  
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives.  
  • Coach development teams, Product Owners, and stakeholders on Agile principles, Scrum practices, and continuous improvement.  
  • Partner with the Product Owner to maintain a healthy, prioritized product backlog and facilitate backlog refinement sessions that prepare work for upcoming sprints.  
  • Collaborate closely with the Technical Program Manager to align sprint execution with program milestones, release schedules, and delivery objectives 
  • Work with the Engineering Lead to identify technical dependencies, remove delivery impediments, and improve team effectiveness.  
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between software engineering, UX/UI, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, platform engineering, and forward deployed engineering teams.  
  • Identify, track, and help remove organizational and technical impediments that impact team velocity, quality, or predictability.  
  • Maintain Agile metrics including velocity, sprint burndown, throughput, cumulative flow, and team health metrics to support forecasting and continuous improvement.  
  • Promote predictable, sustainable software delivery while balancing mission priorities, quality, and cybersecurity requirements.  
  • Support release planning, software demonstrations, customer feedback sessions, and operational fielding activities.  
  • Encourage close collaboration with Army users to ensure operational feedback is continuously incorporated into future product iterations.  
  • Help establish and mature Agile delivery processes that can scale across multiple software development teams.  

Qualifications

Required Skills 

  • Active Secret clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline.  
  • 5+ years of experience serving as a Scrum Master supporting Agile software development teams.  
  • Demonstrated experience leading Agile teams using Scrum and/or Kanban to deliver enterprise software products.  
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, Scrum, Lean principles, the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), and DevSecOps concepts.  
  • Proven ability to facilitate Agile ceremonies and coach cross-functional technical teams.  
  • Experience partnering with Product Owners to maintain and refine product backlogs.  
  • Experience using Agile project management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.  
  • Strong communication, facilitation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.  
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, manage changing priorities, and maintain delivery momentum in fast-paced, mission-focused environments.  


Desired Skills
 

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMI-ACP, SAFe Agilist, or equivalent Agile certification.  
  • Experience delivering software products within Department of Defense environments.  
  • Familiarity with Army modernization initiatives, Mission Command systems, or Command and Control applications.  
  • Experience supporting cloud-native software development using containerized microservices.  
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, OCI containers, DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and secure software delivery methodologies.  
  • Exposure to RMF, Authority to Operate (ATO), IL5/IL6 environments, and secure cloud deployment practices.  
  • Experience supporting AI-enabled software products.  
  • Experience collaborating with geographically distributed software development teams.  
  • Prior experience supporting operational military customers, software fielding activities, or forward deployed engineering teams.  

 

Target salary range: $111,000 - 195,000
