  About the Program

 

The purpose of the Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program is to produce the next generation of highly skilled DoD science and technology (S&T) leaders. SMART is a scholarship for service program that provides academic funding to undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students who have demonstrated ability and special aptitude for exceling in STEM fields.  In exchange, students complete a period of full time employment with the DoD where they are provided opportunities to further their work and research in civil service roles.  The result is that the SMART Program strengthens the DoD by placing high performers into civilian STEM positions thereby enhancing specific facility mission delivery. 

 

About the Position

 

 Assist in SMART a variety of research, writing, and analytic responsibilities to support the smooth operation of the DoD SMART Scholarship Program, to include researching and documenting program success stories, default case processing, special projects, and other tasks as required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the accurate and efficient collection of organizational, human capital, program, and performance data for the DoD SMART program.
  • Manage documentation of SMART scholar accomplishments and success stories
  • Create and implement a strategy to report program accomplishments and success stories
  • Perform tasks related to program default cases
  • Assess and provide SMART data in multiple styles to denote program status
  • Communicate and visualize the results of studies and analyses to clients through summary briefings, written reports and oral presentations. Provide support in development of briefing materials, and on special projects as required
  • Attend meetings and prepare meeting materials
  • Attend events and present the SMART Program as requested

 

Qualifications

  • Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in administrative, academic, customer service, or related field
    • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, customer service skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Ability to work well in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment while continually meeting strict deadlines
    • Must be at least 18, and a citizen of the United States of America
    • Ability to speak, read and write fluent English

     

    Preferred:

    • Federal and/or Department of Defense experience
    • Experience working in an academic environment
    • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat Professional
    • DoD Clearance
