Overview

 Position is on the staff of a not-for-profit government consulting firm. Work will be performed at the company’s operation location at Scott AFB, IL. The Senior Operations Research Manager will perform business development within the Air Force’s operations research community, manage operations research tasks/staff, and perform advanced analytics of Air Force policies and procedures. The Senior Operations Research Manager will be required to independently perform advanced operations research analysis, manage experienced operations researchers, and mentor junior operations researchers.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform business development within the Air Force’s operations research community
    • Develop a strategic business development plan for pursuing Air Force operations research opportunities
    • Identify specific Air Force operations research business opportunities
    • Pursue business opportunities including leading proposal teams
    • Provide expert advice on business opportunities within the Air Force operations research community to other business development teams
  • Manage Air Force operations research tasks
    • Assess Air Force policies and procedures, identify opportunities for enhancement, and help devise solutions
    • Facilitate design of experiments for new operations research tasks
    • Perform periodic reviews of analysis efforts
    • Review task deliverables
  • Manage operations research staff
    • Provide continuing education for operations research staff
    • Mentor junior operations research analysts
  • Perform advanced analytics of Air Force policies and procedures
    • Identify performance problems
    • Design and execute experiments
    • Perform root cause analysis
    • Develop solutions to resolve problems
    • Generating technical documentation of the results
    • Help implement solutions by developing business cases, presenting results to senior leaders, and overseeing clients’ implementation efforts

Qualifications

  • PhD in mathematics, operations research, management sciences, industrial engineering, supply chain management, or other related quantitative discipline
  • 20 years of experience in Air Force logistics
  • Experience performing and managing analysis efforts within the Air Force operations research community
  • Familiarity with the acquisition of analysis and advisory services for the Air Force
  • Current SECRET security clearance.
  • Availability for occasional travel.
