The position is on the staff of a private, not-for-profit government consulting firm headquartered in McLean, VA.  Work is at the client site at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois and sponsored by the United States Transportation Command.  As a not-for-profit company, we deliver the best value for the government dollar, as all revenues are directed to our mission of advancing government rather than to delivering shareholder value. Responsibilities

  •  Perform large dataset design, creation, interpretation
  • Evaluate datasets for accuracy and quality
  • Perform data updates, indexing, and maintenance in databases
  • Develop key business questions and datasets that address questions of stakeholders
  • Help to implement new data management projects and restructure of the current data architectures
  • Assist team in data management projects when needed
  • Process and update third party data sources
  • Assists in developing data exchanges, registration, and mining within the appropriate exchange repository
  • Work with customer in understanding the business requirements and implementing solutions
  • Identify and solve issues concerning data management to improve data quality
  • Use best practices for data management, maintenance, reporting and security
  • Review and conduct quality control of dataset implementations performed by other data engineers
  • Perform additional data and database related tasks, as necessary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Computer Science preferred
  • Secret clearance preferred, but must be clearable
  • At least one of these three certifications:  CCNA, GICSP, GSEC
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • At least 3-5 years of experience with the following:
    • in a professional setting
    • in database administration/application development
    • producing metrics with key performance-indicating data
    • with Oracle Enterprise Manager
    • in the MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel
    • with relational database concepts and design, writing SQL queries, stored procedures and triggers in MS SQL Server
    • With Object Oriented Programming and modern programming languages such as .NET
