As part of the Federal Business Development team, provide presales technical solution expertise throughout the BD lifecycle.  Interact with clients to execute the technical aspects of the sales strategy by developing appropriate solutions and building technical relationships both within LMI and with our Federal clients. This role helps qualify and quantify opportunities, design technical solutions during the BD engagement, helps clients define specifications and requirements, and leads technical client proposals.  Works closely with service delivery teams to understand and leverage LMI capabilities in key accounts and opportunities.


Serve as the technical subject matter expert throughout the BD sales process, owning and managing various pre-sales activities – including technical relationship building, delivering technical presentations, solution design, RFP/RFI technical response development, and proof of concept projects.


Collaborate with the BD team, jointly owning the sales cycle and account plans.


Provide critical technical insight to BD staff to develop service and management consulting solutions for our clients


Understand and document customer business & technical requirements and use them to create value based RFP and RFI proposals, addressing business drivers & pain points – guiding the technical sales cycle towards a technical close & a business win.


Play key role in BD capture and proposal development including writing of technical proposals, coordinating internal technical resources throughout the BD lifecycle, and oversight of overall technical solution.

Help to drive deeper & wider into accounts – support Service Delivery in identifying requirements for additional resources from other departments within the customer, customer alternatives (i.e. other means of handling their current requirements), and potential internal sponsors.


Build strong relationships with key contacts in the client and partner ecosystem. Work with partners to quickly understand capabilities and map into LMI solution design for client proposal.

Participate in LMI process development, infrastructure design and implemention  



Bachelor’s degree (Masters degree a plus) in technical field and 5 or more years of Federal presales experience

Deep understanding of Federal BD sales cycle including selling strategies of enterprise technical services.

Exceptional technical solution design skills including strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong requirements gathering, analytical and diagnostic skills

Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills – both written and oral

Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently with competing priorities

Excellent organizational skills and ability to work within processes

Ability to lead with confidence, calm, and efficiency in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment

Energetic, highly skilled, and well organized, with significant attention to detail

Able to obtain security clearance, if required.

Willing to work flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays (if client demands warrant).
