Overview

 

This position is on the staff of a government consulting firm located in Tysons, VA. Work will be at client location in the Huntsville, AL area.

 

Army Enterprise Systems Integration Program (AESIP) is seeking a Senior Program Manager to join a high performing team in the acquisition of a new logistics automation capability for the US Army. This is a senior position leading the AESIP Program Control Office and reporting directly to the AESIP CIO/Project Director. AESIP is developing and adding three major new capabilities in the next increment to an established SAP ERP system baseline. The Program Control Office is essential to the Government for meeting systems integration and program and project management responsibilities of a multimillion dollar program.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and leading a program management office that will oversee and coordinate multiple concurrent software projects within a complex landscape of cost, schedule and performance drivers that collectively constitute a major Army Automated Information System. AESIP is looking for an experienced, high-performing individual who is ready and willing to take on the program management challenges of a high profile, multi-year software development effort within a complex and demanding environment.

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead implementation of multiple, concurrent, cross-functional strategic IT programs and business process projects.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of projects including developing charters and work plans, structuring and mobilizing project teams, driving team accountabilities, managing stakeholder relationships, resolving barriers to successful project implementation, driving effective decision making and delivering status updates/recommendations to senior management
  • Develop and manage key project artifacts such as project charters, schedules, status reports, work plans, stakeholder engagement plans and decision-making model
  • Direct the development of project deliverables through application of business process design/improvement expertise
  • Strategize with and advise project sponsor/business lead regarding project direction and decisions. Effectively define the issue, offer recommendations and lead the team to agreed-upon actions
  • Develops overall project management calendars and schedules that accurately reflect the scope of the work holistically and by initiative to ensure visibility and alignment to organization priorities and resource allocation
  • Appropriately works with cross functional partners to align resources against project needs and/or work collaboratively to identify and address gaps
  • Sets clear expectations with the cross functional team for their respective role in delivering the defined project(s) on time and budget; ensuring organizational transparency, accountability and risk mitigation
  • Responsible for ensuring quality control and legal input is obtained during appropriate stage gate
  • Develop and deliver effective presentations to senior management to communicate project updates and support effective decision making
  • Mobilize teams, provide tools and examples, develop work plans, coach on project management skills, provide industry expertise, facilitate workshops
  • Lead and Champion the organizational understanding of and commitment to project management. Influence others through sharing of expert project management skills and building a project management excellence culture where people excel at leading and participating in projects
  • Leverage program lifecycle management methods, tools and techniques to constantly monitor and report on progress of project/program
  • Develop and present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to maintain overall project/program schedule

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Program Management Institute PMP, PgMP or equivalent certification required
  • A verifiable history of involvement in a leadership role for large scale, complex SAP or ERP projects over their full lifecycle
  • Experience with designing, implementing and managing a program management office
  • Minimum 7+ years hands-on project management experience in the design and implementation of cross-functional strategic IT projects and business process initiatives
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management with exceptional historical results
  • Proven experience in leading, influencing and driving change management
  • Strong management skills with proven ability to drive projects to successful completion-on time and within budget are required
  • Experience in managing multiple strategic IT initiatives through their complete lifecycle
  • Experience in working directly with and influencing senior management
  • Hands-on experience developing and applying project management tools and templates
  • History of influencing and leading others through change
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Experience in transforming concepts into well-defined initiatives and then driving project teams to produce measurable results
  • High degree of emotional intelligence with demonstrated skills such as intellectual curiosity, analytical reasoning, problem solving, team player, being resourceful and ability to absorb information and assess situations quickly
  • Strong influencing skills with proven ability to get things done without formal authority; ability to build and maintain support and buy-in at all levels within the business
  • Security Clearance. For this position, an active DoD security clearance is required.
  • Employment Status: For this position, W-2 (LMI employee) employment status is required.
  • Travel. Frequent travel between Huntsville, AL and the Washington DC area. Candidate may be asked to perform additional travel.
