  • Overview

    Position is on the staff of a management consulting firm located in Tysons, VA firm specializing in government operations. The Stock Positioning Research Analyst will provide consulting, management and analytical support specifically related to inventory management and distribution systems. This position supports the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) HQ J343 Stock Positioning Team, and the work will be performed at the DLA Distribution client facility located in New Cumberland, PA.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct data retrieval and transformation, statistical graphics, and robust analysis using Statistical Analysis System (SAS) or similar software.
    • Develop interpreting queries and results of data analysis using Structured Query Language (SQL).
    • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of supply chain processes and operations. 
    • Perform complex studies across Financial Management, Order Fulfillment, Planning, Procurement, Technical/Quality, and potentially other processes such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM).
    • Conduct independent assessments of the relative values, strengths, and weaknesses of competing processes or of the performance of the supply chain system or concepts. 
    • Track metrics, interpret trends, identify leading indicators and report results across processes.
    • Develop analytical and/or mathematical models for evaluation criteria and testing sequences.
    • Design, develop, and adapt mathematical, statistical, econometric and other scientific methods and techniques to analyze management problems of a highly significant nature which may be broadly stated or ill defined.
    • Conduct operations research and economic analysis, and recommend and initiate new studies.

    Qualifications

    • Current active DoD SECRET clearance is required.
    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, operations management, operations research or similar discipline with 10+ years’ experience
    • Knowledge of Operations Research
    • Knowledge of Business Intelligence
    • Knowledge of analytical, mathematical, statistical and inventory theories
    • Knowledge of database management
    • Ability to organize and lead teams engaged in studies
    • Ability to communicate orally and in writing
    • Experience with SAS and SQL
    • Experience with JDA and SAP a plus
    • Experience with inventory management. Knowledge of DoD stock positioning is a strong plus
    • Fluent in MS Office, particularly Excel, Access, Visio, Word and Power Point. Knowledge of Project is a plus
    • Must be able to work independently
    • Must be a team player
    • Available for occasional travel
