  • Overview

    Position is on the research staff of LMI, a private, not-for-profit management consulting organization located in McLean, VA that provides solutions to the federal government. The position will be located in the Tysons, VA area.


    This position will provide subject matter expertise in the area of facility recapitalization projects including but not limited to, site recapitalization of administrative buildings, warehouses, training facilities, major utility upgrades, and site infrastructure such as roads and parking lots.  This position will be tasked with the responsibility of managing such projects from the initial design stages to the final stages of construction.  This position will develop and articulate facility solutions, develop design concepts, lead architectural and engineering firms, construct design reviews, monitor and critique construction progress, and to accept completed work on behalf of the Government. Communication with the customer’s mid-level and senior-level staff, and collaboration with a broad range of engineering and operations personnel is required.


    Other duties of the position may include:

    • Providing guidance to the on-site Contracting Officer’s Technical Representatives;
    • Assessing existing recapitalization requirements;
    • Incorporating external facility assessments into existing know requirements;
    • Assist with the prioritization of unfunded requirements;
    • Assist with the development of an annual capital improvement plan;
    • Working with the building site services contractor and contractors providing support;
    • Generating correspondence, documenting project information, organizing information;
    • Inspecting work performed by contactor personnel;
    • Collaboration with a broad range of engineering, operations, senior management, and local officials;
    • Short and long term planning with respect to facility infrastructure requirements;
    • Project prioritization, cost estimating, budget planning, and scheduling.


    • Bachelor’s degree required in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering or related technical discipline
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills
    • MBA or Master’s degree in related technical field desired
    • Minimum of seven to ten years of project management experience with demonstrated ability to serve as the primary project manager for the design and construction phases of large facilities infrastructure projects/programs with a value exceeding $1,000,000
    • Knowledge of facility management concepts desired
    • Knowledge of cost estimating a plus
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
    • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
    • Working knowledge of the Facilities Condition Index (FCI) is desired.

For this position, LMI will only consider applicants with current security clearances or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.  Please note that only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance. A TS/SCI with polygraph is required.
