    LMI seeks a senior market researcher to identify new technologies and solutions in support of a federal program management office in Northern Virginia. Join our team of collaborative self-starters focused on delivering practical and efficient solutions to help our client keep U.S. borders safe and facilitate trade and travel. As part of our high-performing team, you will augment our vital work to provide “eyes and ears” technology to protect our nation.

    Responsibilities

    You will be responsible for evaluating the marketplace for new technologies or tools that can potentially enhance the client’s abilities to carry out their mission of protecting our borders. You will coordinate with requirements analysts to identify new opportunities and support the evaluation and acquisition process of candidate technologies. Specific responsibilities:

    • Perform market surveys and review industry catalogues and publications
    • Conduct trade studies to support functional allocation of requirements, evaluate alternative architectures and solution sets, support cost and performance tradeoffs, and examine proposed system changes
    • Conduct analysis of alternatives for new technologies
    • Identify opportunities for alternative sourcing of products or services

    Qualifications

    • Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance abuse, and employment verifications; active U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation preferred. Please note that only U.S. citizens are eligible for a suitability determination.
    • Previous work with CBP’s Integrated Fixed Tower (IFT), Remove Video Surveillance Systems (RVSS), Mobile and Agent-Centric Systems (MACS), and/or Field Surveillance Services (FSS) portfolios is a plus.
    • 10+ years of experience and a Master’s degree in business, management, or information technology (IT); or 12+ years of experience and a Bachelor’s degree.
    • Experience with communication, sensor, and surveillance systems is desirable. Examples include wide-band, broadband, and narrowband communications networks, air-to-ground communications, day and night cameras, radar, electro-optical / infrared sensors, laser range finders, and video ground sensors.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
    • Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders.
    • Ability to effectively solve problems.
    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
    • A true team player who maintains a positive attitude in a dynamic environment.
    • Professional certification in a relevant field is desirable.
