  • Overview

    LMI seeks a senior program control lead to support a federal program management office in Northern Virginia. Join our team of collaborative self-starters focused on delivering practical and efficient solutions to help our client keep U.S. borders safe and facilitate trade and travel. As part of our high-performing team, you will augment our vital work to provide “eyes and ears” technology to protect our nation.


    You will support the management of a large project to acquire and sustain communications, sensor, and surveillance systems and the infrastructure that supports them for our client. You will support the Program Manager and the project team by managing schedule, financials, risks, and risk mitigations for effective execution of the project to ensure our team is overseeing technology deployment on time and on budget. This is a large, complex project consisting of a 160-person team working across multiple work streams, including multiple subcontractors, with some team members assigned to a specific portfolio or project and others providing matrixed support across programs. The majority of the team will be at the client site and/or telework; the team will have significant travel to stations on the southwest and other borders. Representative responsibilities:

    • Organize day-to-day project management activities
    • Establish and maintain the project management plan (PMP)
    • Oversee development of a large volume of technical deliverables, with support from a quality control / risk management specialist
    • Compile monthly status reports based on input from the team members and manage a high volume of trip requests and trip reports, with support from a project analyst
    • Monitor, track and report costs and schedule
    • Manage resources, including recruiting
    • Coordinate with LMI corporate functions such as HR/Recruiting, Finance, Contracts, and Security
    • Maintain the quality management plan (QMP) and risk register with support from a quality control / risk management specialist


    • Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance use, and employment verifications; active U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation preferred. Please note that only U.S. citizens are eligible for a suitability determination.
    • 10+ years of experience and an MBA or Master’s degree in related discipline; or, 12+ years and a Bachelor’s degree.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
    • Previous program management and financial management experience.
    • Experience using information from Deltek CostPoint is a plus.
    • Professional demeanor to interact with staff members and clients on a regular basis.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
    • Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders.
    • Ability to effectively solve problems.
    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
    • A true team player who maintains a positive attitude in a dynamic environment.
    • Previous work with CBP’s Integrated Fixed Tower (IFT), Remove Video Surveillance Systems (RVSS), Mobile and Agent-Centric Systems (MACS), and/or Field Surveillance Services (FSS) portfolios is a plus.
