    LMI seeks a senior training specialist to support a federal program management office in Northern Virginia. Join our team of collaborative self-starters focused on delivering practical and efficient solutions to help our client keep U.S. borders safe and facilitate travel and trade. As part of our high-performing team, you will augment our vital work to provide “eyes and ears” technology to protect our nation. Travel may be required once or twice a month to stations on the southwest and other borders.

    Responsibilities

    You will oversee the training developed by product vendors to make sure it enables our client’s field personnel to operate equipment to the full extent of its capability, and to maintain it for optimal up-time availability. Our client’s portfolios are made up of communication, sensor, and surveillance systems and the infrastructure that supports them. Examples include wide-band, broadband, and narrowband communications networks, air-to-ground communications, day and night cameras, radar, electro-optical / infrared sensors, laser range finders, and video ground sensors. Your goal is to identify improvement opportunities and maximize on-the-job application of the knowledge gained through training. Representative responsibilities:

    • Define operator training needs and infuse them into acquisition requirements
    • Establish training requirements for newly deployed technologies
    • Perpetuate continuous training for field operators and maintainers
    • Use industry-standard ADDIE process to develop strategic training programs, requirements, and plans
    • Design and implement formal evaluation procedures using the Kirkpatrick model
    • Review training artifacts and identify updates required
    • Ensure funding requirements are identified
    • Validate that training needs are being met, such as using a survey
    • Track training metrics including return on expectations
    • Identify and prepare training support facilities
    • Coordinate train-the-trainer efforts to prepare instructors

    Qualifications

    • Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance abuse, and employment verifications; active U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation preferred. Please note that only U.S. citizens are eligible for a suitability determination.
    • Previous work with CBP’s Integrated Fixed Tower (IFT), Remove Video Surveillance Systems (RVSS), Mobile and Agent-Centric Systems (MACS), and/or Field Surveillance Services (FSS) portfolios is a plus.
    • 10+ years of experience and a Master’s degree in business, management, or a related discipline; or 12+ years and a Bachelor’s degree
    • Experience in instructional systems design, ADDIE, and Kirkpatrick model is desirable.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
    • Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders.
    • Ability to effectively solve problems.
    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
    • A true team player who maintains a positive attitude in a dynamic environment.
