    This position is in direct support of the Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) Safety Office. Work location is on-site at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.

    Responsibilities

    The Safety Analyst position will provide a broad range of transportation safety and security support to the SDDC Safety office focused on carrier accident, incident, inspection, and performance data. The Safety Analyst must be able to work independently and perform analysis on ambiguous and large data sets across multiple source systems. The Safety Analyst will analyze and assess transportation safety policies and procedures against current performance measures and make recommendations for policy and/or process improvements. The Safety Analyst serves as the liaison between SDDC Safety and DTTS. Essential functions:

    • Develop, maintain, and compile regular data analysis reports
    • Compile data across multiple sources in a standardized format
    • Communicate with various organizations within and outside DOD to ensure data collected is relevant to improving carrier safety
    • Transform data and analysis into informative data visualization and/or interactive dashboards
    • Derive insights and analytic narratives from data analysis for clear communication in response to specific research questions
    • Identify and interpret trends and patterns suggesting systematic safety implications
    • Act as an internal resource, assisting leaders in analysis, evaluation, troubleshooting, and documentation of products, processes, and systems
    • Develop data-driven recommendations and present information concisely
    • Provide operational research, analysis, technical expertise, and management support services
    • Research industry standards and develop mechanisms to differentiate carrier safety performance
    • Assist with identification of leading and lagging indicators relevant to incentivizing safety performance of DoD transportation providers
    • Provide input to monthly status reports and in-process reviews
    • Assist in the preparation of information briefings, point papers, reports and assessments
    • Perform other duties as assigned

     

    Qualifications

    Education: Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant work experience preferred

    Preferred Experience: Strong data analysis skills required. Experience in and knowledge of DoD transportation policy and systems preferred. Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite applications. Experience planning and managing complex analytical tasks. Experience in operations research, analytical applications and data compilation. Possesses an in-depth working knowledge of the commercial transportation industry and ability to apply applicable safety policy and procedures. Strong written and oral communication skills. Familiarity with DoD systems including Global Freight Management (GFM), Integrated Mission Support for Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (iSDDC), Transportation Geospatial Information System (TGIS) a plus.

    Clearance: Secret clearance preferred
