  • Overview

    Management consulting position with a Tysons, VA, firm specializing in government operations. The Engineering/Technical Data Consultant will conduct analyses and support multiple projects evaluating and improving digital technical data content and formats used for procurement and maintenance support to weapons and other complex systems. Data include specifications, drawings, parts lists, test methods, and other technical data package components.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Serve as a subject matter expert on technical data creation, exchange, and maintenance, with a focus on 3-dimensional (3D) models and other digital data. Focus is on technical data for physical parts design, manufacture, sustainment, and disposition.
    • Support project teams analyzing use, content, and format of digital model based (3D) technical data for life cycle support of weapon systems, particularly operations and sustainment.
    • Conduct analyses and support multiple projects that are enhancing the adaptation of digital product data and data exchange standards across the Department of Defense (DoD) and its supporting suppliers.
    • Communicate with clients through informal meetings, written reports, and oral presentations.
    • Identify and develop potential business opportunities with federal, state, and commercial organizations.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field required. Master's degree desired.
    • 3 or more years' experience involving use of CAD/CAM software. Demonstrated experience sharing data across organizations for collaborative supply chain design, manufacture, and product support.
    • Familiarity with ISO, ANSI, DoD, and other standards for design data and the exchange of product data is highly preferred.
    • Familiarity with the government procurement process, weapon system design process, and logistics support strategies is highly preferred.
    • Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Current U.S. Government security clearance, or ability to obtain one, is required. Please note only U.S. citizens are eligible for security clearances.
    • Available for occasional travel.
