  • Overview

    LMI is looking for an experienced Buyer who will be able to take a lead role on LMI’s internal purchasing. The Buyer will be responsible for working with internal clients to determine purchasing requirements, develop purchasing strategy, conducting vendor competitions, and vendor selection. The Buyer will also be responsible for creating purchase orders, tracking purchases, and completing required documentation. The ideal candidate must be eager to learn, able to work in a team environment, and must be strategic, organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with little direct supervision.

    Responsibilities

    • Advise internal clients on developing purchasing strategy;
    • Conducting vendor and supplier research;
    • Interfacing with potential suppliers and vendors;
    • Developing sourcing and evaluation strategies;
    • Developing requests for proposals;
    • Negotiating price and delivery terms;
    • Validating pricing and maintaining required purchase documentation;
    • Developing purchase orders;
    • Reviewing contract documents;
    • Other duties as assigned;
    • Maintain regular attendance.

    Qualifications

    • BA/BS plus at least 5 years’ experience in corporate purchasing;
    • Experience with corporate purchasing systems;
    • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills;
    • Ability to review, understand, and analyze contract documents;
    • Excellent command of English language and grammar with strong verbal and written communication skills for composing and interpreting internal and external business correspondence;
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
    • The ability to obtain and maintain a US Department of Defense Security clearance;

     

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience in corporate purchasing for a US government contractor;
    • Experience developing purchasing best practices and training;
    • Working knowledge of CostPoint purchasing system;
    • Basic knowledge of FAR/DFARS and Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR) requirements.
