    LMI seeks environmental specialists to support a federal program management office in Northern Virginia. Join our team of collaborative self-starters focused on delivering practical and efficient solutions to help our client keep U.S. borders safe and facilitate trade and travel. As part of our high-performing team, you will augment our vital work to provide “eyes and ears” technology to protect our nation.

    Responsibilities

    You will assist a federal agency in executing its environmental program and complying with environmental laws and regulations, such as the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). Strong communication skills, a demonstrated ability to deliver innovative solutions, a sound understanding of environmental laws and processes, and creative problem-solving acumen are critical success factors.

    Representative responsibilities:

    • Supports the Environmental Branch and Real Estate and Environmental Lead for assigned Wall projects
    • Reviews environmental technical reports for compliance with CBP policies and directives
    • Provides edits and comments on technical reports and wall segment designs
    • Coordinates with CBP and USACE Project Managers on implementation of BMPs during construction
    • Oversees BMP implementation and corrective measures where needed; provides status reporting on BMP implementation as needed
    • Tracks progress of environmental requirements until completion and ensures schedules are updated and documents are entered into FITT
    • Coordinates with:
      • PMO and USACE Project Managers to provide status of environmental efforts and coordinate on BMP monitoring and other project actions
      • Acquisition Senior Analyst to solicit quotes and obtain environmental support services
      • Real Estate Specialist to coordinate access to all project areas for the purpose of performing environmental survey work
      • USBP Sector and station staff to coordinate field activities and resolve environmental issues during planning and project execution

    Qualifications

    • Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance use, and employment verifications; active U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation preferred. Please note that only U.S. citizens are eligible for a suitability determination.
    • Previous work with CBP’s Integrated Fixed Tower (IFT), Remove Video Surveillance Systems (RVSS), Mobile and Agent-Centric Systems (MACS), or Field Surveillance Services (FSS) portfolios is a plus.
    • Education or work experience in one or more of the following areas: 
      • NEPA
      • NHPA
      • ESA
      • CAA
      • CWA
      • RCRA
      • Development and implementation of environmental-related training programs.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint; TRIRIGA; and ArcGIS.
    • A true team player who maintains a positive attitude in a dynamic environment.
    • Relevant professional certification or training in environmental planning preferred.
