    LMI is seeking a Network Engineer (Mid-Level) to support a DoD Program Executive Office (PEO) providing Enterprise IT as a Service (EITaaS). The ideal candidate will have proven background in enterprise-wide Information Technology (IT) and Network support and technical solutions, and a demonstrated ability to provide strategic level advice and guidance to help shape scalable acquisition approaches.


    Work will be performed Fort Belvoir, Virginia.


    The Network Engineer will:

    • Conducts technical reviews of contractor IT related proposals and provides recommendations concerning contractor proposals including concepts, architecture, etc.
    • Provides authoritative technical and programmatic advice and guidance on the full range of network operations and management, system operation, new technology evaluation and deployment, and user support.
    • Defines customer requirements for new and modified systems and services based upon analysis of business needs and practices.
    • Develops and implements  Information Technology (IT),Network and Telecommunication requirements as articulated by program officers, team chief, and division director, and provides guidance and recommendations for meeting them.
    • Advises on contractor IT related issues such as budget planning, project coordination and architecture.
    • Advises on the operation and maintenance of the organization's IT hardware & software, ranging from major mission-critical applications used by the bureau & federal agencies to medium size offices/bureau specific applications to smaller applications
    • Perform a variety of functions on a wide range of information management (IM) and information technology (IT) issues.
    • Prepare documentation and network maps and present reports.


    Preferred Experience:

    • Served as a senior Network Administrator and Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) manager with responsibility for defining and executing the total breadth of network operations of an activity.
    • Developed and implemented complex configuration management plans for complex LANs and Wide Area Networks (WANs).
    • Was responsible for engineering and maintenance of a nationwide, multi-level security data transport network.



    Seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience in network and vulnerability analysis.

    Familiar with the primary functions of networking equipment, i.e. Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and wide area communications.

    Awareness of some of the following vendor products; Palo Alto, Fortinet, Juniper, F5, Cisco, Aruba.

    Knowledge of IT security would be an advantage.

    Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

    Working under pressure, multitasking between simultaneous projects and responding to deadlines.

    Flexible, tenacious, highly self-motivated, and committed to achieving goals.

    Deep knowledge of tools and techniques to assess network traffic at the application layer

    Implementation experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and IDS

    Programming/scripting experience in Java, Python, bash, Perl, Ruby, etc. preferred but not required.

    Experience with network tools such as Wireshark, Ethereal, SNORT, Nessus, tcpdump, tcp wrapper, IDS, ISS scanner, eEye

    Active Secret Security Clearance required; Top Secret preferred


    One or more of the following certifications:

    • CCISP - Certified Critical Infrastructure Security Professional
    • CISM - Certified Information Security Manager
    • CISSP - Certified Information Systems Security Professional
    • SSCP - Systems Security Certified Practitioner
    • GIAC - Global Information Assurance Certification
    • CSP - RSA Certified Security Professional
    • CPP - Certified Protection Professional

    Travel:  Minimal, approximately 10%.
