Overview

LMI is seeking a professional IT project manager to support a federal agency in the Washington, DC area. The IT Project Manager is responsible for leading teams to deliver IT projects for Federal Agencies. This includes managing: resources, schedules, financials, issues, risks, and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously
  • Manage scope and change requests to ensure customer satisfaction while staying within contract terms
  • Manage all aspects of multiple IT projects across several customers to ensure the overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives
  • Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities; provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership
  • Prepare estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of projects
  • Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources, acts as escalation point for issues and expected to create and execute remediation strategies
  • Understand interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs
  • Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders
  • Act as an internal quality control check for the project
  • Identify and develop trusted adviser relationship with project and program stakeholders, sponsors and university stakeholders
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project and program team
  • Deliver appropriate and effective executive level communication
  • Proven success in providing on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
  • Coordinate between the business and technical teams to act as a liaison and translator for both parties 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information management or information systems management, business administration, technology management or related disciplines, or equivalent experience
  • Five or more years’ experience in working with large government or private sector IT programs or systems
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certified
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Must be self-directed and detail oriented, able to delegate tasks efficiently and communicate needs effectively
  • Ability to effectively interact with personnel involved in financial, policy, technical, operational, and program management work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to compose, write and edit a variety of general business correspondence, management reports, technical presentations, proposals and position papers
  • Exceptional communication, briefing, and writing abilities required; must be able to communicate to all levels: executive through accountant and technical personnel with ease and efficiency
  • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality in all business matters required.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
  • Extensive and demonstrated understanding of project and program management principles, methods and techniques
  • Extensive and demonstrated understanding of business analysis principles, methods, and techniques
  • Ability to pass a government security clearance process is required, for which you must be a US citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Doctorate, Master’s, or additional Bachelor’s degree in a management, business, economics, engineering, quantitative/qualitative analysis, IT or related field
