LMI is seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect to support an Intelligence Community client. This position will be located in the Northern Virginia area.

  • Design and evaluate cloud-based IT and analytics architectures based on discussions and research with product owners and users, intuition, and an understanding of the desired outcomes of a requested solution.
  • Work closely with data scientists, data engineers, data product engineers, infrastructure engineers, network engineers, security engineers, and software developers to integrate and stand up analytics operating environments.
  • Collect requirements, architect cloud solutions and guide cloud applications and cloud migration efforts
  • Architect and design software applications that will be deployed in cloud environments
  • Design and advise on Cloud DevOps best practices
  • Design and advise on the use AWS and Microsoft Azure cloud services, e.g., to enable high-performance computing (e.g., AWS EMR) and create standard virtual machine (e.g., EC2) instances.
  • Design and advise on the use of high-availability infrastructure services for production data science and analytics environments.
  • Design and advise on the use on the automation of the build-test-deploy lifecycle for a wide variety of data science and analytics applications and services.
  • Explore, evaluate, and advise on the cloud implementation of a wide variety of open source and commercial data analysis and visualization technologies, such as Tableau, Qlik, Superset, and Metabase.
  • Establish an awareness and understanding of technical constraints, resources, and opportunities, such as cost, speed to market, scalability, security, and operational constraints within the federal government.
  • Identify and implement best-practice solutions to client requirements



  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
  • Bachelors in a technical field.
  • Expert Skill level.
  • Seven to ten (7-10) years of combined experience in engineering lifecycle software solutions.
  • Five or more years' experience building compute architectures in the Top Secret or Secret commercial cloud environment, with an emphasis on leveraging the full complement of enterprise cloud services.
  • Five or more years' experience developing and deploying applications in the Top Secret or Secret commercial cloud environment.
  • Three or more years' experience scripting in Python, Ruby and other scripting languages.
  • Experience routinely using knowledge management and code repositories, including but not limited to, Github, Gitlab, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities through prior experience working with senior management to find solutions for customers and leading teams performing IT software development.
  • Experience performing software development for Government programs of similar scope and complexity.


  • Masters degree
  • One or more Cloud certifications such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer
  • Demonstrated experience productionizing data science research capabilities, analytics and applications, with a focus on transforming these into enterprise-ready applications, including but not limited to Al/ML, and deep learning models with GPU.
  • Familiarity with a range of approaches to automate deployments of software applications in the Sponsor's commercial cloud environment.
