LMI is seeking a skilled Communications Protocol Officer at our client site in St. Louis, MO.  The position requires planning and implementing special events and visits, including coordinating logistics and providing event management advice.

Responsibilities

If you come from the protocol and communications world, this might the job for you! Our client is in need of someone with a communications and protocol background. If you have some previous experience with technology, that would be a major bonus. You will help to shape key engagements with senior government personnel and a range of audiences, as well as execute communication plans for a variety of initiatives. 

 

Responsibilities may include:  

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute high-level military and civilian, foreign and domestic visits/functions, ceremonies, and special events hosted by the senior National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency leadership. 
  • Conduct thorough planning and research to ascertain all relevant information and assure all arrangements and details are tailored to fit the needs of each event. Plan and implement protocol for casual to formal social events (i.e., ceremonies, visits, business entertaining, and receptions). 
  • Plan, support and implement events, including special events.  Determine support requirements for events (i.e. sequence of events, guest lists, venue setup, receiving lines, flag display, seating arrangements, VIP courtesies, invitations and RSVP).   
  • Plan and implement special events (POW-MIA, Cultural Observances, Armed Forces Birthday Celebrations, and Memorial Ceremonies). 
  • Coordinate with appropriate individuals to facilitate arrangements for site and facility selection, procurement of awards, press coverage, gift exchanges, appropriate menu selections, meetings, invitations, seating arrangements, etc. 
  • Serve as an escort for the duration of the scheduled event, provide advice and assistance as needed, and take corrective action for unforeseen requirements which allow the event to continue to a successful conclusion. 
  • Provide recommendations for the location of events based on the scope, number of attendees, and requirements of the event. 
  • Coordinate accommodations/meeting space, meals/menus, audio-visual, administrative room, VIP Rooms, billeting, and group movements to conference events. Provide on-site logistical support for each event including site preparation.  
  • Participate in the development and implementation of National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency protocol policy. Continually review the program to recommend changes and updates for refinement and improvement. Identify issues and objectives for the course and analyze and evaluate needs and advise appropriate courses of action to achieve desired end state. 
  • Respond to requests for advice/assistance in all matters/activities relative to proper protocol procedures. Ensure responses are coordinated, while maintaining confidentiality appropriate to the issue. Provide both formal and informal briefings to groups and individuals which convey useful information that can be applied to specific situations the audience can reasonably anticipate encountering and to promote a more positive and informative understanding of protocol related issues. Prepare recurring and one-time narrative reports and summaries. 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • At least 12 months demonstrated experience planning and implementing all facets of events and functions for senior personnel involving foreign dignitaries, diplomats, foreign military personnel, and legislative and government officials 
  • At least 12 months demonstrated experience communicating with audiences of diverse backgrounds 
  • At least 12 months demonstrated experience in project management, including identifying needs, timelines, and tasks to support requirements
  • Preferably prior experience with IT systems and communicating technical concepts in user centric language – essentially transforming technical content into easily understandable language
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders and senior leaders
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Excellent writing, editing, and briefing skills
  • The ability to develop strategic messages for a variety of audiences
  • Experience with establishing and advancing an organization's brand
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively in a dynamic team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to balance tasks, competing priorities, and short deadlines
  • Ability to think strategically
  • This position requires an active security clearance at the Top Secret/SCI level. You must be a US citizen.  The ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph is required.

 

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Completion of formal training in protocol or event management (e.g., The Protocol School of Washington or The George Washington University Event Management Program).
  • Completion of formal training in leadership.
  • Completion of formal training in project management.
