Overview

LMI, a strategic consulting organization focused on providing solutions to the federal government, is seeking a Data Science and Automation SME to support the Office of the Secretary of Defense Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation (OSD-CAPE) within the Department of Defense (DoD) to provide data science and automation expertise for a data platform that will serve as DoD’s authoritative source for O&S cost data for major weapons systems. 

Responsibilities

The mission of OSD-CAPE is to provide DoD with timely, insightful and unbiased analysis on resource allocation and cost estimation problems to deliver the optimum portfolio of military capabilities through efficient and effective use of each taxpayer dollar. This effort will oversee the development of a data platform, Enterprise Visibility and Management of Operating and Support Costs (EVAMOSC), that will address known issues with operations and support cost data completeness, accuracy, granularity, and reporting frequency.

 

This position will lead innovations around the use of creative data sources and the application of data science, machine learning, and robotic process automation to support operating and support (O&S) cost analysis for major acquisition programs and generate the next generation of data-driven insights for sustainment costs.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree from an accredited institution in data science, mathematics, computer science, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience developing and deploying data platforms and data analytics in a cloud computing environments
  • Experience with the design, development, and deployment of data science solutions in hybrid cloud and cloud computing environments
  • Experience with DoD business and financial management source data systems
  • Experience working with OSD-CAPE and its stakeholder communities (i.e., OSD-CAPE, cost, financial management, acquisition, logistics, maintenance, and product support) for analyzing and reporting O&S costs
  • Experience with weapons system cost data
  • Experience operating in NIPR environments
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
