Overview

The UX/UI Designer will work with the Forge, LMI’s internal technology accelerator and innovation hub, to develop technology solutions for LMI and its federal government clients. This position will be responsible for engaging stakeholders, creating mockups, proofs of concept, and prototypes, and delivering HTML and CSS specifications to front-end developers. The UX/UI Designer will measure the success of new features and participate in branding and marketing the Forge products. This position will use modern design principles to create simple, intuitive, and impactful user interfaces.

Responsibilities

The UX/UI Designer will:

  • coordinate with the product manager(s) to facilitate customer and stakeholder interviews;
  • review mockups and prototypes with customers to make informed design decisions to promote intuitive design and impact;
  • work with client-facing consultants to help identify areas in the software that could use improvement;
  • work with engineering teams to define features that will solve specific customer problems;
  • build complex prototypes involving data or new technology;
  • create sketches, mockups and prototypes, or UI of a new feature;
  • work engineering teams to methodically deliver those features to customers;
  • leverage analytics and data to help to track, measure, and make recommendations to optimize user interfaces and experience;
  • create internal style guides for HTML and CSS to ensure the customer's experience is consistent and predictable;
  • apply DevOps principles to continuously deliver high-quality software and shorten the software development lifecycle; and
  • create HTML and CSS templates that will be used by front-end developers and incorporated directly into applications.

Qualifications

  • Certification (or degree preferred) in design, arts, technology, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or other related business or human-computer interaction discipline is required
  • Preferred UX-related certification(s), such as those offered through Nielson Norman Group, GeneralAssemb.ly, Human Factors International, or LUMA Institute
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in digital design, UI/UI design, or software product design for SaaS applications
  • Experience with applications for design, wireframing, prototyping, generating icons, etc.
  • Strong portfolio of previous web and/or mobile work
  • A working knowledge of Design Thinking or Human Centered Design processes
  • An understanding of UX principles, patterns, and practices
  • An ability to analyze usage data and channel it into meaningful product direction
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Basic knowledge of JavaScript
