The Data Governance SME will understand key principles of data management and stewardship, organize and manage data assets and their related data policies and business rules, and create a policies, processes and procedures associated with data governance. You will work closely with business users to understand their data requirements and the analytic insights they need to make data-driven decisions.


As a Data Governance SME you will work with solution architects, data owners, data stewards, policy developers, process and workflow analysts, data scientists, and business analysts to manage data governance activities, including data governance committees.

The Data Governance SME will

  • analyze the current state of the data architectures of various systems – software components, technologies, data models and business processes;
  • incorporate data policies and metadata into data governance policies, processes and procedures;
  • create data governance models, including assets, relationships, domains, and communities;
  • create future-state application data architectures;
  • define workflow, security and integration requirements and dashboard and reporting requirements;
  • generate data management artifacts – data models, diagrams, ETL source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries, and data flow diagrams;
  • propose and enforce data management best practices, data standards, and data management policies and rules across different functional areas of an organization; and
  • document case studies and create solution templates that will accelerate future implementations.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or relevant experience
  • 10 years of experience in consulting and data governance activities.
  • An understanding of data governance frameworks
  • Experience with data modeling (conceptual, logical, and physical) and a knowledge of relational databases.
  • Awareness of cloud services (preferably AWS)
  • Ability to analyze complex data and communicate data governance concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Must have excellent oral and written skills.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a US Government security clearance, for which you must be a US citizen.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or relevant experience
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to compose, write and edit a variety of general business correspondence, management reports, technical presentations, training material, proposals and position papers.
  • Must be comfortable interacting with key leadership, be articulate, and be proactive.
  • Must be able to work in a highly charged and fast-paced environment to prioritize and complete assigned tasks based on guidance from senior leadership. Interacts with staff at all levels and across organizational teams.
  • Active Secret or Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is highly desirable
  • Data Governance, Data Professional, Enterprise Architect or similar certification preferred (CDMP, FEAC, TOGAF etc)
