Overview

LMI is seeking a Communications/Public Affairs specialist to work on-site at the Pentagon supporting the Army G-4’s Logistics Initiatives Group. The position will assist in conveying the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS), G-4’s strategic vision to internal and external audiences to garner support of logistics priorities and initiatives. The candidate will be required to provide communications/public affairs expertise to develop strategic messages, publications, and multimedia materials for the DCS, G-4 and other G-4 senior leaders. The candidate should possess a general understanding of the Army G-4 or the materiel enterprise mission in order to tailor products using social media and other strategic communications platforms. The candidate must be self-directed, adaptable, and possess strong interpersonal skills able to interact with senior Army leaders and work across G-4 functional directorates on a daily basis.

 

Position requires a DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic, national security affairs related analytical support for strategic communications planning, development, coordination, integration, synchronization, implementation, and assessment of internal and external strategic communications campaign plans.
  • Support engagements, produce articles, speeches, briefings, papers, or reports to support crafting and disseminating the DCS, G-4 strategic direction. Ensure messages contain a consistent application of information across various mediums. Research topics include but are not limited to Army Senior Leaders, and other Army, Joint, and government activities.
  • Integrate and synchronize the logistics vision in oral and written communications through the use of strategic communication methods.
  • Research, write, and edit articles and other written products for inclusion in publications including, but not limited to, Army Sustainment Magazine, Association of the United States Army Green Book, Military Logistics Forum, and Army Times. Products will be tailored to reach global audiences, ranging from the U.S. Congress, external and internal government agencies, to logistics Soldiers and Civilians across the Army. Provide analytical and functional review of articles prepared for a variety of publications and mediums.
  • Provide recommendations on content that supports strategic communication efforts on the internal and public G-4 web pages, social media, displays, and other G-4 priority efforts.

  • Provide support to develop, manage, and execute strategic communications and public affairs products for Army logistics social media.
  • Develop and publish a highly dynamic weekly media report and G-4 website for subject matter experts which will provide situational awareness on news of interest to the logistics community.
  • Develop and coordinate briefings, public affairs guidance, strategic communication plans, press releases, marketing materials, and products in support of Army sustainment and logistics.
  • Develop and maintain a continuity book for G-4 relevant actions supporting the G-4 strategic communications, public affairs activities.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree (communications, English, or related discipline) with 6 years of work experience, bachelor’s degree with 8 years of work experience, or 12 years of work experience with no degree required.
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, and questioning skills able to interact effectively with senior Army Staff clients on a daily basis. Adaptable to flexible work styles, environments, and locations. Excellent customer relationship management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including ability to write, edit and proofread a variety of presentations, position papers and memoranda.
  • Experience with establishing and advancing an organization's brand.
  • Ability to think strategically.
  • Comfortable facilitating meetings with opposing viewpoints. Excellent analytical, problem solving, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in team-based environment with minimal supervision and direction. Must be self-directed, extremely detail oriented, and resourceful in completing assigned tasks and projects within assigned deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint), social media platforms and strategic communications multimedia.
  • LMI will only consider applicants with current Secret security clearances.

 

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Prior experience working with Office of the Chief of Public Affairs (OCPA) at OSD, Joint Staff, Army Staff, ACOM or ASCC level of support desired.
  • Experience with the Task Management Tracker (TMT) system desired.
