LMI is seeking a Technical Writer for the DHS Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Office to oversee a full range of program management and technical support services for the Systems Support Directorate (SSD) to enhance the nation’s abilities to prevent terrorists and other threat actors from using weapons of mass destruction and support operational partners in closing capability gaps along adversary pathways.


The technical writing team supports the DHS Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Office as part of a multidisciplinary team of high-performance professionals tackling the client's most vexing technical and technological challenges and developing solutions to meet homeland security threats. The Tech Writer develops material to support all of the offices within the CWMD Office and works particularly closely with senior leadership within the organization.

  • Developing and executing strategic communication plans.
  • Assisting with tracking, monitoring and providing status reports on legislative activities in Congress and State governments as appropriate. This support includes monitoring legislation and hearings or helping to edit and assemble background materials for briefing books.
  • Sending and tracking correspondence with clients, speakers, participants, and sponsors/exhibitors.
  • Coordinating and overseeing production of meeting materials to include: name badges, meeting materials, program books, supplies, signage, etc.
  • Creating and analyzing event evaluations and prepare post-event reports.
  • Performing data entry and administration functions.
  • Developing, implementing, and sustaining a Strategic Communications, Marketing and Engagement plan.
  • Developing a strategic roadmap for communicating and leveraging agency assets to inform stakeholders how CWMD conducts business.
  • Deploying tactics to engage and openly exchange of information with key individuals and organizations across the stakeholder spectrum.
  • Conducting outreach and providing responses that promote continued communications with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assessing, developing, and implementing methods to improve current communications tools internally.
  • Assisting in the development of websites.


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • 5+ years’ relevant experience.
  • Understanding of law enforcement practices, and interfaces.
  • Strong communication and technical presentation skills, a teamwork mentality, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are required.
  • Active Top Secret (with SCI eligibility preferred) clearance desired.
  • Candidates must be able to pass a DHS Suitability Check (US Citizenship required).
