With the threat of transnational terrorism and ongoing development of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) by nations potentially hostile to the U.S., DHS has taken steps to integrate the full range of its radiological/nuclear, chemical, and biological threat detection programs. As the focal point for this effort, DHS Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) requires consulting and program management support that can reinforce and better enable a more dynamic and operationally-focused DHS strategy.

Please note: 

Candidates must be able to pass a DHS Suitability Check and obtain a Secret clearance.


  • Support federal, state, local, tribal and territorial agencies in the development, implementation and sustainment of Radiological and Nuclear detection programs and capabilities by providing information resources, processes, facilitation, and guidance on document development and strategic planning and supporting development of plans and procedures.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on radiation detection equipment for operational use.
  • Conduct organizational studies and evaluations, design systems and procedures.
  • Conduct work simplification and measurement studies, and prepare operations and procedures manuals to assist management in operating more efficiently and effectively. Includes program analysts and management consultants.
  • Provide programmatic support for CWMD field operations, such as Radiological and Nuclear surge operations and special event operations. Examples of support include program and operational planning, providing office-based logistical
    support, assessing and documenting program performance and requirements, and providing recommendations for program enhancement.


  • MA/MS degree, or equivalent.
  • More than 10 years of experience.
  • Candidates must be able to pass a DHS Suitability Check and obtain a Secret clearance. Candidates with an active clearance is preferred.
