Overview

The position of Payroll Analyst is based at the company’s headquarters in Tysons, VA. It reports functionally to the Payroll Manager. The Payroll Analyst position is a highly visible role requiring extreme attention to detail, accuracy, professionalism, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity in all matters. LMI utilizes UltiPro for payroll processing, Costpoint v7 for accounting and labor processing, and Deltek Time and Expense for timekeeping. We process payroll on semi-monthly basis for approximately 1,800 employees across the United States. This position is responsible for compliance matters related to payroll and will evolve over time to include special projects in support of the Accounting Team and LMI company objectives. The ideal candidate would be an outgoing individual with the enthusiasm and expertise to communicate across the organization while exercising the highest level of customer service and care to our employees.

 

Responsibilities

  • First responder to employee inquiries including researching payroll issues, participating in problem-solving discussions, and escalating when necessary
  • Critically review, analyze, and approve routes in the UltiPro payroll system for changes such as salary, address, tax withholding, direct deposit, and bonus payments
  • Maintain employee records in the Costpoint financial system for changes such as timesheet approver, supervisor, salary, address, tax withholding, and direct deposit
  • Understand LMI’s organizational structure, ensuring each employee is properly assigned in the payroll, financial, and timekeeping systems
  • Communicate directly with employees and supervisors regarding any inconsistent or non-compliance entries
  • Coordinate efforts between Payroll, Human Resources, Accounting, and other departments as necessary to ensure proper flow, maintenance, and integrity of employee data
  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
  • Respond to requests for employment verifications
  • Partner with Human Resources to understand LMI’s benefit structure, as well as the proper taxation and withholding of employee benefits
  • Partner with Human Resources to understand LMI’s tuition reimbursement policy, and process all payments to employees
  • Manage the employee termination process including calculating and coordinating employee repayments
  • Manage the garnishment process including adding the garnishment information to the payroll system, as well as notifications to employees and LMI Security
  • Perform testing related to changes, enhancements, and upgrades, including the design of testing scenarios and procedures in an effort to improve processes
  • Prepare and distribute detailed payroll reports to various departments across the organization
  • Assist with year-end W-2 creation and reconciliation

Qualifications

  • Degree in accounting, finance or applicable area, plus a minimum of two years of work experience performing similar duties
  • Experience with Costpoint is required
  • Experience with UltiPro and Deltek Time and Expense is preferred
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Strong working knowledge of full-cycle employee labor and payroll processing
  • Up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll law and tax compliance issues
  • Experience with employee benefits, their impact to taxable wages, limits, and W-2 reporting
  • Experience with employee garnishments
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong time-management and planning skills with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and assignments with little supervision
  • Able to contribute to a professional work environment by demonstrating integrity, promoting teamwork, and fostering positive communication
  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance
