Overview

LMI is seeking a Joint Exercise Logistics Planner at client site at Headquarters, U.S. Army Central, Shaw AFB, SC. This effort supports USARCENT Operational Sustainment responsible for the logistics support of multiple Army and Joint training exercises and activities pertaining to the USCENTCOM AOR. The Joint Exercise Logistics Planner will support the planning, execution, and participation in conferences and exercises throughout the USCENTCOM AOR. The candidate will assist USARCENT G4 Plans with logistics estimates, preparation of briefings, and inputs to CONPLANs, OPORDs, and EXORDs. The candidate must possess an active DoD Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, direct and control the logistics support of exercises affecting the current and long-range operations of this multi-mission military command. Provide timely assistance with minimum issues per training exercises and/or activities. Respond daily to verbal and written communications concerning the status of logistic support. Address any issues or concerns promptly. Develop and communicate clear concepts of support with USARCENT G4, G37, and other staff.
  • Prepare logistics estimates and other products to assist in providing required logistics supply, service, and other life support for field training exercises (FTXs). Review estimates and products for accuracy and compliance and submit prior to established suspense.
  • Assist with establishing logistics MSEL scenarios for mission rehearsal exercises / command post exercises using the JMSEL tool of the Joint Training Information Management System (JTIMS) or similar software applications.
  • Provide input to USARCENT’s theater security cooperation program working closely with G37 to develop and synchronize USCENTCOM/USARCENT readiness and partner shaping events while integration simulations support into exercise and training programs.
  • Monitor exercise data requirements necessary to formulate and submit TPFDD information for assigned exercises, meeting applicable deadlines.
  • Provide material to ARCENT, principal staff officers and Command Group, for briefings and recommend actions to correct deficiencies and/or deviations with logistics support to exercises.
  • Coordinate with other Defense/Federal agencies and installations to resolve conflicts/discrepancies for exercise support.
  • Assist staff action officers in the planning and development of the final exercise support concept that support the mission and goal of the exercise. Provide weekly updates to the Exercise Branch Chief.
  • Apply understanding of and make use of existing acquisition and cross- servicing agreements (ACSA) if available with the host nation and pursue contracting solutions through the ARCENT OCS Cell.
  • Leverage the Requirement Review Board (RRB) process by completing necessary documents for logistics support to an exercise that will be submitted as part of a packet for RRB approval.
  • Consult, train, and assist units determine, tailor, and document their deployment equipment requirements, and assist units with input of Deployment Equipment Lists (DEL) into the appropriate systems
  • Coordinate with Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) for all sealift requirements.
  • Assist participating units with understanding and meeting exercise inland transportation guidance and requirements. Coordinate among the ports (air and sea) and participating units to ensure understanding and compliance with port operations
  • Coordinate among Air Mobility Command (AMC), major commands, installations, RRC, state DMC, APOE and participating units to assure shared and accurate understanding of each air
  • Determine deployment procedures for each APOE and notify major commands and participating units to ensure they have the proper manifests, show times, thorough understanding of unit responsibilities while at the APOE, and coordinate any support requirements at the APOE.
  • Provide regular airlift status, schedules, and changes to key ARCENT leaders and staff officers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 11 years of experience or advanced degree with 9 years of experience.
  • Two years of experience working at a Joint, Army, and/or component-level headquarters.
  • Graduate of an Intermediate-Level Education (MEL 4) program, or minimum of five years of experience in operational logistic support planning, the Support Operations Course (Phase 2) or similar course.
  • Deployed combat experience in a logistics or support operations position.
  • Functional understanding of the Joint Operational Planning and Execution System (JOPES).
  • Demonstrate collegiate-level writing ability in all communications.
  • Recent experience (last three years) working at a one-star or higher-level command.
  • Strong oral, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work autonomously and high standards for personal performance.  Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and adaptable to flexible work styles, environments, and locations. 
  • Ability to coordinate and build consensus among a wide cross-section of stakeholders. Comfortable briefing General Officers and Senior Executives.
  • Possess an active DoD Top Secret security clearance.

A DoD Top Secret clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
