Overview

LMI seeks junior to senior-level cost estimator to support a federal program management office in Washington, DC. Join our team of collaborative self-starters focused on delivering practical and efficient solutions to help our client keep U.S. borders safe and facilitate travel and trade. As part of our high-performing team, you will augment our vital work to provide “eyes and ears” technology to protect our nation.

 

Perform cost estimating of the client’s portfolio of communications, sensor, and surveillance systems and the infrastructure that supports them. These costs will be used in the contract award process as budgetary cycle inputs to support investment decisions and as elements of other program products and requirements to provide cost information to Congress, OMB, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update life cycle cost evaluations (LCCEs) and independent government cost estimates (IGCEs) for the client’s programs and projects, as well as ad hoc estimates.
  • Conduct sensitivity and uncertainty analyses.
  • Participate in program meetings and technical interchanges to remain current with program requirements.
  • Participate in the review and reconciliation of estimates developed by other contractors.
  • Present results of estimates in a variety of formats such as verbal presentations, narrative reports, and briefings charts
  • Generate estimates in accordance with DHS Headquarters and GAO Cost Assessment Guide standards to facilitate government review, third-party replication and validation, and future updates or enhancements.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, management, finance, math, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Previous work with CBP or DHS is a plus.
  • 3–10 years plus of experience.
  • Relevant cost estimating certifications with ICEAA or AACE is desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with ACEIT and Crystal Ball software is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • A true team player who maintains a positive attitude in a dynamic environment.

Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance use, and employment verifications; active U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation preferred.
