General Summary:

The Market Research Principal is a member of LMI’s Growth Team responsible for leading market research initiatives, developing research strategies, and providing insights that inform business decisions. The Market Research Principal's primary focus is on ensuring that the LMI’s market research efforts are aligned with its strategic objectives and that they yield actionable insights that drive growth. The candidate is expected to work from LMI’s Dayton office at least one day per week.

LMI is seeking an experienced Market Research Principal who will be instrumental in implementing a hybrid market intelligence approach that promotes agility, responsiveness, and informed decision-making. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong analytical background, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record in market research leadership. By continuously observing, orienting, deciding, and acting, the Market Research Principal will enable the organization to stay ahead in a rapidly changing market landscape.

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The Market Research Principal will conduct research while collaborating with other members of the Growth Team and market, service line, capture, and proposal management leadership. The candidate reports to the VP, Growth Accelerator Team.

Responsibilities will include:

  1. Opportunity Intelligence:
  • Continuously observe market changes, trends, and competitor activities to identify business opportunities and potential risks.
  • Orient the organization by providing context and relevance to the observed data, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Decide on appropriate actions based on the analyzed intelligence and recommend strategies to capitalize on identified opportunities or mitigate potential risks.
  • Act on the decisions by implementing recommended strategies and monitoring their effectiveness.
  1. Hybrid Market Intelligence Approach:
  • Implement the OODA framework for rapid decision-making and continuous adjustment, enabling the organization to respond quickly to changing market conditions.
  • Utilize the Intelligence Cycle as a structure for gathering, processing, and analyzing information, ensuring that decisions are based on accurate and relevant intelligence.
  • Continuously refine and improve the hybrid market intelligence approach based on feedback and outcomes.
  1. Team Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Lead and manage a team of market research analysts and contribute to their professional development.
  • Establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align research objectives with business strategies.
  • Present research findings and recommendations to key decision-makers.
  1. Thought Leadership:
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in market research.
  • Contribute to the development of the organization's market research methodologies and tools.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences and events.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Market Research, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in market research, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • This position requires eligibility for a security clearance, for which you must be a US citizen
  • Strong understanding of the OODA loop and Intelligence Cycle.
