Overview

LMI is seeking a skilled, experienced logistician to support the Army G-4’s G-44 Troop Support Division responsible for commissary and exchange support (Class I and Class VI) to the Army. The candidate will provide end-to-end support to the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4's chairperson's roles for both the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) Board of Directors (BoD) and the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) BoD and supporting committees. As such, we are seeking an individual who can successfully demonstrate competency in leadership, critical thinking and client relationship management. The consultant must be able to work autonomously, have exceptional writing skills, and be comfortable briefing and interfacing with general officers and senior executive civilians on a routine basis.  Work is currently hybrid but could change to on-site based on client needs.  Position requires a DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

 

  • Support projects analyzing existing system-support supply chains (including, inventory management, maintenance, and distribution) in government organizations such as the Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Provide consulting services on DoD logistics strategy and supply chain materiel management policy and guidance related to both weapon system lifecycle product support and all classes of supply, with particular focus on wholesale and retail level inventory management processes, policies, performance measurement and analysis. 
  • Support Army G4 in correcting audit findings and material weaknesses in Inventory, Operating Material & Supplies, and Requisitioning; evaluate Army Audit Agency and Government Accountability Office reports on AAFES and DeCA and assist in the preparation of the advisory response.
  • Analyze and assess DoD and other government agency logistics and supply chain policies and procedures against current performance metrics and make recommendations on policy and/or process improvements.
  • Prepare and finalize correspondence including letters, memoranda, briefings, speeches, presentations, meeting minutes, and reports to include authoring papers and responses to queries from Congressional members, Army senior leaders, and staff agencies.
  • Manage the U.S. Army’s portfolio for DeCA and AAFES. Provide analytical and technical support to AAFES and DeCA programs.
  • Serve as part of the functional staff supporting the DCS, G-4, who serves as a member of the DeCA BoD and chair of the Performance Committee. Prepare read ahead briefings and provide prep sessions for DeCA BoD meetings.
  • Serve as part of the functional staff supporting the DCS, G-4, who serves as the vice-chair of the AAFES BoD and member of the Executive Committee. Prepare read ahead briefings and provide prep sessions for AAFES BoD meetings.
  • Conduct research and analysis to prepare presentations for AAFES and DeCA actions and provide strategic-level talking points or information papers for DCS, G-4 Senior Leadership.
  • Serves as a liaison between other military services, Defense agencies, staff offices, and commands to solve current issues and develop best business practices.
  • Analyze and make recommendations to AAFES and DeCA regulations and pamphlets as required.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Candidate must have an advanced degree with 9 years of experience, a bachelor's degree with 11 years of experience, or no degree with 15 years of experience.
    • Possess strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work autonomously with high standards for personal performance. Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and adaptable to flexible work styles, environments, and locations. 
    • Ability to coordinate and build consensus among a wide cross-section of stakeholders. Comfortable briefing General Officers and Senior Executives. 
    • Strong quantitative skills, including the ability to use spreadsheet, database, and related software.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of tools (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint).
    • Minimal to no travel required.
    • Position requires an active DoD Secret clearance

 

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Master’s degree (Supply Chain Management, Logistics or business management)
  • Prior Army military or DoD civilian/contractor experience 
  • Experience working at the DoD strategic level
  • Experience writing strategic-level policy or memorandums
