Overview

LMI is seeking a Technical Project Lead to support a Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA) program.  The Technical Project Lead will lead a project delivery team, drive program schedules, provide input for financial management, and ensure high quality delivery of LMI contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a remote development team, ensuring alignment with project goals and agile best practices.
  • Oversee and coordinate the execution of cloud-based solutions, ensuring compliance with VA and federal security policies, including FedRAMP and the ATO process.
  • Oversee the process of obtaining a FedRAMP ATO with an agency sponsor, ensuring all security and compliance deliverables are reviewed and approved.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies as a SCRUM Master, ensuring continuous collaboration, backlog refinement, and iterative delivery of features.
  • Support and oversee cloud-based deployments, with a preference for Azure or other cloud services, ensuring reliability and security.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between technical teams, stakeholders, and VA leadership, translating business needs into actionable technical requirements.
  • Manage project schedules, risks, and dependencies, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to program milestones.
  • Oversee software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes, ensuring compliance with VA’s technical and security standards.
  • Utilize industry-standard tools such as JIRA for project tracking, sprint planning, and version control.
  • Support documentation and reporting efforts related to risk management, security compliance, and system performance.
  • Ensure quality control processes are followed, and deliverables meet contract requirements and VA expectations.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to technical team members on best practices in Agile development, cloud services, and security compliance.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience as a Technical Project Lead leading software development projects, preferably within the VA or other federal agencies.
  • Experience leading remote development teams and coordinating across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (SCRUM, SAFe, or Kanban) and serving as a SCRUM Master.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes and best practices.
  • Ability to identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively address technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management and collaboration tools, such as JIRA, GitLab, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

 

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • Experience working within the VA or supporting federal healthcare IT projects.
  • Previous experience guiding teams through FedRAMP compliance and ATO processes.
  • Certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMP, or SAFe Agilist.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices in cloud environments.
  • Prior experience in government contracting and familiarity with federal IT regulations.

 

Target salary range: $90,000 - $125,000
