LMI is seeking a Junior Software QA Tester to support our innovative RFID technology solutions for the Department of Defense. This role is ideal for someone beginning their career in software testing who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to the development of mission-critical applications. You will be part of a fast-paced Agile team working closely with developers, product owners, and UX designers to ensure high-quality software delivery.

This is a hands-on role that focuses on manual testing, writing and executing test cases, documenting defects, and validating features before deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and execution of manual test cases based on user stories and feature specifications
  • Perform functional, regression, and exploratory testing on web and mobile applications
  • Log defects clearly using tools such as Jira and collaborate with developers on issue resolution
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and participate in validation during field deployments
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and backlog grooming
  • Learn and apply testing best practices in a team-focused environment

Qualifications

  • 0–1 years of experience in software quality assurance, testing, or related field (internship or academic project experience acceptable)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for ensuring software quality
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative Agile team
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to Agile development methodologies
  • Familiarity with basic database queries or concepts (e.g., SQL)
  • Experience or coursework in software development or QA principles
  • Knowledge of web or mobile application testing
  • Interest in supporting defense, DoD, or RFID-related technologies
  • Relevant certifications such as ISTQB or Security+ are a plus

 

Target salary range: $67,161.74 - $116,168.42
