Overview

LMI is seeking a Law Enforcement Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a compliance modernization program for a national agency. The Law Enforcement SME will bring critical, expert-level knowledge, guidance, and practical experience to the project, as the team builds and implements a modernized, risk-informed governance, risk, and compliance framework. A successful Law Enforcement SME has deep, practical knowledge of complex criminal investigations, law enforcement operations, and regulatory enforcement from experience at a national policing or investigatory agency, such as the FBI, DOJ, or DEA. They will act as an advisor, evaluator, and trainer to help mature the compliance program, support field adoption, and drive organizational reform.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Program Manager (PM) and compliance team with a comprehensive assessment of current compliance program.
  • Serve as trusted advisor to internal and external stakeholders, providing guidance on critical decisions related to governance, compliance, and risks
  • Use deep, practical knowledge to provide strategic direction on investigative standards, evidence handling, and field operations
  • Advise on the improvement of current procedures, reporting, and compliance protocols to align with best practices
  • Lead comparative analysis against FBI, DEA, and other federal law enforcement agencies
  • Support pilot site selection, deployment, and troubleshooting based on operational requirements
  • Contribute expertise to design and implement community outreach plans and engagement strategies
  • Provide a law enforcement perspective to support role-based training development with practical field scenarios

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a related discipline
    • 15+ years of law enforcement experience can be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance (includes fingerprinting, background check, and drug screening).
  • 10+ years federal law enforcement experience with supervisory responsibilities
  • USPIS, FBI, DEA, or similar federal law enforcement background required
  • Experience with compliance programs, investigations, and field operations management
  • Strong knowledge of federal law enforcement standards and community engagement practices
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and build consensus.

 Desired Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of DOJ compliance standards, federal investigation protocols, and law enforcement governance
  • Familiarity or direct experience with GRC/Cybersecurity solutions, tools, and technologies

Target Salary Range - $82,267 - $141,358

 

The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation. Individual salaries are determined by various factors including, but not limited to location, internal equity, business considerations, client contract requirements, and candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, skills, and security clearances.
