LMI is a consultancy dedicated to improving the business of government, drawing from deep expertise in advanced analytics, digital services, logistics, and management advisory services. Established in 1961, LMI is a trusted third party to federal civilian, national security, and defense agencies, operating free of commercial and political bias. For nearly 60 years, LMI has worked with 40 government agencies. We believe government can make a difference, and we seek talented, hardworking, mission-driven people who share that conviction.

Who We Are We’re not your typical government contractor. Our team is building the next generation of RFID, GPS tagging, and sensor-mesh solutions that keep DoD operations moving at speed. We blend startup energy with mission focus—rapid prototyping, field testing, and scaling real solutions that matter.

As our Tech Lead – Platform, you’ll be at the center of it all. You’ll shape the core architecture that connects edge devices to the cloud, embed DevSecOps into our DNA, and set the standard for how we build secure, scalable, and resilient platforms. This is your chance to guide the “how” and leave a mark on technology that directly impacts national defense.

This position requires a Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

We need a Tech Lead who can drive the future of our platform—someone who knows their way around Kubernetes, DevSecOps pipelines, and scalable API development. You’ll be the technical backbone behind our sensor mesh ecosystem, ensuring our platform is secure, resilient, and flexible enough to support everything from RFID readers at the edge to cloud-scale analytics. This isn’t just about writing code—it’s about leading the architecture, guiding engineers, and building the foundations that make mission-ready solutions possible.

This role is equal parts hands-on architect, mentor, and technical problem-solver. If you thrive at the intersection of cloud and edge, love building platforms that scale, and want your work to directly impact DoD operations, we want you.

What You'll Do

· Lead platform development: Oversee the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance platforms.

· Own Kubernetes & DevSecOps: Define and manage container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code practices.

· Drive API strategy: Lead the design and development of APIs that connect our ecosystem—ensuring interoperability and performance.

· Be hands-on: Write code, review designs, and troubleshoot complex issues across the stack.

· Mentor engineers: Provide technical guidance, share best practices, and help grow platform engineering talent.

· Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with product managers, mission engineers, and security teams to deliver solutions that are both innovative and compliant.

· Champion security: Ensure DevSecOps principles are embedded into every step of the platform lifecycle.

· Set standards: Define and enforce coding, testing, and deployment practices across the engineering organization.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

· 5+ years of experience in platform or software engineering, with 2+ years in a technical leadership role.

· Strong expertise with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration.

· Hands-on experience with DevSecOps pipelines, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD tools.

· Proven ability to design and scale APIs for enterprise or mission-critical systems.

· Solid understanding of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP; AWS preferred).

Bonus Points For:

· Experience with DoD or regulated environments (IL5/IL6, FedRAMP, RMF).

· Familiarity with edge-cloud architectures and hybrid deployments.

· Background in RFID, IoT, or sensor-driven systems.

· Contributions to open-source DevOps or platform engineering communities.
