Overview

LMI is seeking a Biosecurity Subject Matter Expert to join our team supporting the Office of National Laboratories with the DHS Science and Technology Directorate. The ideal candidate will have deep experience supporting laboratory biosecurity programs. This is an on-site position located on Fort Detrick, Maryland.

Responsibilities

  • Apply expertise of high consequence security and biosecurity principles to develop Security Plans, Post Orders and SOPs.
  • Maintain understanding of advances in the areas of national security, critical infrastructure protection, interagency security, industrial security, systems security and personnel security, and other disciplines that impact management of the biosecurity and the security program.
  • Research novel methods and measures to protect high consequence materials to include Chemicals, Explosives, and Biological Select Agents and Toxins; Valuable Biological Materials, including facility construction and design.
  • Provide counterintelligence to counter insider threats, including conducting biosecurity tailored analysis for the Special Security Officer (SSO), DHS CI analysts, and interagency partners.
  • Lead teams, meetings, seminars, working groups, etc., to develop security systems and plans, processes and procedures that ensure safeguards for the protection of high consequence materials, chemicals and biological select agents and toxins, valuable biological materials, to include classified and sensitive but unclassified information.
  • Lead a team that generates and conducts comprehensive and ongoing high consequence and biosecurity training program that addresses the unique security response and recovery operations in a high containment laboratory to include BSL-4 facilities.
  • Perform Biosecurity Investigations at the direction of the Security Director.
  • Oversee a team that conducts access control processes for maximum containment laboratory to include visit requests and checks using various DHS and ICE systems.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in a relevant field with 15 years of experience.
  • Understanding of the Select Agent Program and the unique requirements of biological research to access control, information security and focus on insider threats.
  • Knowledgeable of high consequence security, biosafety and biosecurity fundamentals.
  • Knowledgeable of physical security and security guard force operations in a biological laboratory.
  • Familiar with biosecurity methods, policies, guidelines, procedures and requirements for the investigation of security violations.
  • Familiar with storage requirements and construction standards for the storage and processing of BSAT. Knowledge of security surveys that comprise part of an overall security plan for approving secure areas.
  • Ability to deal effectively with representatives and high-level officials both inside and outside of government.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication, written, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work autonomously.
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance required.

Targeted Salary Range: $120,000 - $165,000
