Overview

LMI is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Strategic Communications Specialist to join our team supporting the Office of National Laboratories with the DHS Science and Technology Directorate. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting the development of strategic communications plans, initiatives, and products. This is a remote position, but candidates are preferred to be located in the Washington D.C. area.

Responsibilities

  • Performs analyses applying the project management process to support development in policy, plans, schedules, and milestones for the communication of laboratory capabilities, avenues for laboratory access and utilization, while supporting the accomplishment of agency goals and objectives.
  • Provide day-to-day program analysis support for strategic communications outreach to stakeholders, and advise on plan development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts, to include both secure and public-facing DHS websites.
  • Develop communications materials for a wide range of audiences to include Congressional staff, Homeland Security Enterprise stakeholders, and the public.
  • Conduct analysis and develop strategies for communicating laboratory needs and priorities to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure routine, timely, and accurate communications regarding ongoing and future research and development (R&D) activities are coordinated with stakeholders. 

Qualifications

  • B.S. in a relevant field with at least 3 years of experience in corporate communications and/or public affairs. 
  • Experience writing, editing, preparing briefs, and creating talking points for leadership.
  • Knowledge in communications principles, methods, practices, and techniques, including skill in presenting ideas in speech and in written form to inform and persuade audiences at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience designing, developing, and delivering strategic communications through a variety of media, including print and digital.
  • Oral and written communication and presentation skills, with proficiency in multiple methods of visual communication.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and SharePoint.
  • Active DOD Secret clearance.

The target salary range for this position is up to-$100,000.
