Overview

LMI is seeking a highly qualified Data Engineer to support the Systems Team within the Army Training Information System (ATIS) program. This role will support data strategy, engineering, and analysis activities within a SAFe Agile Release Train (ART) to design, build, and optimize enterprise-level databases and data integration processes that align with program-level and solution-level objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Work within cross-functional Agile Teams to support the design and implementation of enterprise data architectures and migration strategies aligned to Program Backlog priorities. 
  • Collaborate during PI Planning, Iteration Planning, Daily Standups, and Inspect & Adapt workshops to ensure data solutions support evolving business and system needs. 
  • Define and enforce data standards across the enterprise, leveraging existing frameworks and identifying gaps for standardization. 
  • Support incoming and outgoing data interfaces, including schema design, ETL pipeline development and maintenance, ensuring data quality and data consistency. 
  • Support resolution of data-related user inquiries. 
  • Facilitate collaboration across teams to ensure enterprise-level data consistency, quality, and integrity throughout the Continuous Delivery Pipeline. 
  • Contribute to the architectural runway by designing scalable data pipelines, warehouses, and integration layers. 
  • Monitor and improve system performance, security, and scalability in alignment with DevSecOps principles. 
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or AWS native services for data transformation and automation. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Active Secret security clearance. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 
  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise-level data engineering, data architecture, or related fields. 
  • Active DoDI 8140 certification (e.g., CISSP, CISM, Security+). 
  • Expertise in enterprise database and data warehouse design, query optimization, and performance tuning. 
  • Strong problem solving and SQL analysis skills. 
  • Proven ability to learn and apply domain knowledge to data transformations and data quality reports. 
  • Skilled in process design, modeling, and documentation using DoDAF or similar frameworks. 
  • Experience supporting data-centric enterprise systems and integration with multidimensional networks. 
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks, especially SAFe, and experience working in PI cycles and Agile ceremonies. 
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and tools to support collaborative team-based delivery. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience working with government or DoD systems (e.g., ATIS, IPPS-A, AOS). 
  • Experience with backlog management and collaboration tools (e.g., Gitlab, Lucid Spark). 
  • Experience in AWS data services (S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, SNS/SQS, etc.) 
  • Familiarity with data governance, compliance, and security best practices in a federal environment. 
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes and data automation tools. 
  • SAFe and related industry certifications (Leading SAFe, DevOps Practitioner, Security+). 

Travel Requirements: 

  • Occasional travel required (e.g., quarterly for PI Planning and major program milestones). 

 

Target salary range: $82,000 - $141,000
