Overview

LMI is seeking a Technology Engineer to lead planning and execution of test and evaluation projects for our DHS client. This is on-site position in the New York City area and requires the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. You must be a U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Leads planning and execution of test, evaluation, and assessment activities for developmental and commercial off the shelf systems, including radio frequency (RF) sensors and communications equipment, wireless and internet of things (IoT) devices, mesh networks, augmented reality / virtual reality (AR/VR), artificial intelligence / machine learning (AI/ML) enabled systems, and other technologies used within the first responder community
  • Engages with customers to identify and interpret operational requirements to ascertain the type of examination required and the specific data to be obtained
  • Coordinates work elements, facilities, equipment, and other resources for testing
  • Develops test experiments plans, including relevant test procedures, test limits, and instrumentation
  • Manages projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards
  • Executes test experiments and supports recording data from varied sensor modalities
  • Develops test reports outlining test procedures, test results, conclusions, and pertinent recommendations and suggestions relative to the acceptability or application of the tested product/technology/system 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • 3-10 years of relevant engineering and technical experience (or 1 year of experience with a Master's degree)
  • Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment for a matrixed organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to listen and relate with the customer
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external customers
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong team player with customer-focused attitude
  • Occasional travel required to various test sites
  • Ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance. You must be a U.S. citizen.

Desired Skills:

 

  • Engineering degree or related experience in electrical, computer, network/telecommunications, or systems engineering disciplines preferred 
  • Applied understanding of communication protocols, including 802.11 standards 
  • Ability to design, initiate, and manage land mobile radio systems specifically tailored for first responders (including p25 and Firstnet) and/or military communications 
  • Analytical experience working with network protocols, security protocols for communication devices, digital signals, analog signals, spread spectrum modulation, encrypted RF signals, and signal analysis 
  • Experience utilizing technical equipment such as oscilloscopes, software defined radios, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators for testing and troubleshooting 
  • Ability to develop RF signal propagation models and predictions, including multipath analysis, and interference analysis 
  • Working knowledge of human factors and ergonomics with a specific focus on the interaction between the human and equipment. This includes the engineering and design of products/systems and test/evaluation processes to reduce human error, increase productivity and enhance safety, usability and comfort factors

 

Target salary range: $84,885 - $115,000
