Overview

LMI is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead the development, testing, and deployment of machine learning (ML) models for the Supply Chain Risk Evaluation Environment project (SCREEn). These models are crucial for encapsulating extensive discrete event simulation data, aiding a critical supply chain risk program for the Department of Defense. This opportunity is categorized as a Key Personnel position.

Responsibilities

    • Leads, develops, and maintains supply chain models utilizing deterministic and stochastic modeling and combinatorial optimization, including network flow, to accurately represent defense supply chain networks, processes, and variables.
    • Utilizes leading software, emerging technologies, such as automation and machine learning, and theoretical models to conduct in-depth simulation to identify, assess, mitigate supply chain risks and evaluate supply chain scenarios.
    • Collaborates with stakeholders to identify opportunities for supply chain optimization, implement continuous process improvements, and monitor impacts on key performance indicators. 
    • Forecasts demand and lead times using historical data and predictive analysis to assist with inventory management, component criticality, and production.
    • Develops contingency plans to mitigate potential disruptions while adhering to various Program Protection Plans and Security Classification Guides.
    • Gathers, validates, and manages large disparate datasets ensuring data integrity and availability for modeling and analysis relative to defense-wide supply chain operations.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science or STEM field.
  • Minimum of ten years of relevant experience in Department of Defense supply chain modeling and simulation.
  • Must possess and maintain a DoD SECRET Clearance and be able to obtain a Common Access Card.

Desired

  • Master’s degree or higher (advanced degree can be substituted for two years of experience).
  • Demonstrated proficiency developing products using the following types of software: advanced analytics software such as SAS, Python, and R to provide decision support on DoD applications.
  • Familiarity with DoD data and analytics platforms, such as Advana.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using data visualization software, such as Tableau or Qlik, to develop Enterprise-wide decision support and management capabilities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using integrated data products and databasing solutions, including SQL, Spark, and Databricks.
  • Located in the National Capital Region is highly desired.
  • Top Secret clearance is highly desired. 

Target salary range: $109,986 - $189,154

 

The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation. Individual salaries are determined by various factors including, but not limited to location, internal equity, business considerations, client contract requirements, and candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, skills, and security clearances.
