LMI is seeking a skilled Data Analyst Specialist to join the Data Analytic and Systems Solutions capability area in providing leadership support to a DoD organization.  As a data analyst for Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Materiel Readiness you will play a critical role in shaping the policy implementation of this organization’s strategy. You will work closely with senior management, subject-matter experts, and policy teams to develop products that effectively capture the organization’s strategy and objectives to internal and external stakeholders. The work will be performed at a Department of War (DoW) client site in the Pentagon (Arlington, VA).

 

 

Responsibilities

As a DASW MR /Strategic Data Analyst , you will serve the government client by supporting a team developing requirements for this organization. This may include the following activities: 

 

  • Collaborate with senior leaders and subject-matter experts to understand key policy priorities, narratives, and objectives.
  • Demonstrate the ability to frame and scale data problems to effectively analyze, visualize and find data solutions.
  • Possess the ability to work with and manipulate common data formats, including comma-delimited, text files, and JSON.
  • Demonstrate the ability to derive insights and analytic narratives from data and visualizations for effective storytelling and clear communication in response to specific research questions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, solutions oriented environment focused on client deliverables, analysis and reporting.
  • Provide analytical support to review, advise, synchronize and maintain sustainment data streams into OSW data metrics system (i.e., Advana).
    Possess the ability to work in teams and independently.
  • Establish standardized business rules.
  • Identify required data elements.
  • Develop/Support analytics visualizations.
  • Senior Leader Meeting/Reporting Support. 
  • Analyze data products and provide comments/recommendations on strengths and weaknesses to deliver required results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, engineering, or other related business or quantitative discipline is required.
  • 5+ years of experience, performing related responsibilities and duties. Master's degree can be substituted for 2 years of experience.
  • Experience working with tools including object-oriented programming (Python, Java), computational analysis tools (R, MATLAB), and associated data science libraries (scikit-learn).
  • Experience creating meaningful data visualizations and/or interactive dashboards that communicate your findings and relate them back to how your insights create business impact using platforms such as data analytics and data visual tools (including but not limited to QLIK and Tableau). 
  • Working knowledge of databases and SQL is desired. Preferred qualifications include linking analytic and data visualization products to database connections.
  • Preferred experience with data science methods related to data architecture, data munging, data and feature engineering, and predictive analytics.
  • Additional preferred qualifications include working with unstructured text and natural language processing.
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
  • This position requires an active security clearance at the secret level.
