LMI currently has an opportunity for a Production and Publications Officer in the McLean, VA area. Interested in a work schedule that frees up your day and avoids rush hour traffic? The general hours for this position are 10:00PM-8:00AM, 4 days a week.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will serve in a full-time client facing role as a Publications Officer for an Intelligence Community (IC) supporting a publication of critical finished intelligence for policymakers and senior leadership. With minimal staff oversight, officers will work as a team to be responsible for conducting quality control of current intelligence products based on late-breaking news ensuring products are formatted, branded and disseminated appropriately; and adjusting project schedules on the basis of changing mission and customer requirements. 

  • Conduct quality control or products and processes, to include proofreading current intelligence products.
  • Review publications to ensure correct classification, handling and dissemination standards are adhered to.
  • Posting products, readying them for publication, as well review and correct document metadata as necessary.
  • Work with counterparts across enterprise to meet dissemination deadlines.
  • Provide excellent customer service to support mission partners and stakeholders.
  • Plan the contents of publications according to the publications style, editorial policy, & publishing requirements.
  • Oversee publication production, including, layout, & computer typesetting, ensuring adherence to deadlines.
  • Implement and maintain knowledge management systems for customers and client team members.
  • Maintain management process for quality control and feedback regarding published materials.

Qualifications

  • TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years professional experience working with classification, handling, and dissemination of sensitive material.
  • Expert knowledge of and experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and One Note) and Adobe Acrobat, as well as comfortable using computer databases and systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of production methodology for publishing products in electronic format, including file organization, version control and documenting next steps
  • A strong attention to detail and organization
  • Demonstrated ability to manage concurrent projects to completion and adjust priorities as mission needs evolve, as well as ability to multi-task & meet fast-paced deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new skills independently.
  • Ability to work in a team setting and comfort with taking independent initiative to enhance the product, process or team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with others tactfully and diplomatically.
  • Excellent written & verbal communications skills
  • Knowledge of the organizations within the Intelligence Community is a plus.
  • Proof-reading or copy-editing experience is a plus.
  • BA degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or other related discipline is preferred.

Target salary range: $140,000-$165,000
