Overview

LMI is seeking a talented and dynamic Strategic Communications Specialist to join a high performing team supporting a government healthcare client. This role will lead the development of strategic outreach campaigns, technical and non-technical communication artifacts, training efforts, and user adoption strategies—all designed to foster sustainable engagement and platform integration. By leveraging Human-Centered Design (HCD) principles, this role is pivotal to ensure that the platform grows in alignment with mission objectives. This position may be remote.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage strategic communication plans and campaigns aligned with the initiative roadmap, ensuring timely, impactful messaging across all stakeholder groups that increase platform adoption.
  • Lead the creation of technical and non-technical artifacts, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), outreach materials, user training guides, website spotlights, social media posts, events, and articles, ensuring consistency with branding and visual identity standards.
  • Conduct editing reviews of deliverables, ensuring they align with style guidelines, plain language principles, and accessibility requirements (508 compliance).
  • Facilitate the review and clearance of documents to support program operations and platform adoption.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and deliver targeted outreach efforts and comprehensive training programs, particularly for onboarding.
  • Implement feedback loops and Human-Centered Design (HCD) principles to refine communications and address barriers to change, increasing stakeholder trust and system usability.
  • Leverage data analytics and stakeholder feedback to identify usage gaps, refine communication strategies, and evaluate the impact of outreach and training efforts, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Perform meeting documentation tasks for client-facing meetings, including distributing agendas and capturing key takeaways/action items in clear, comprehensive notes.
  • Build trust and alignment with diverse stakeholder groups to drive successful adoption and deep integration of the CMS platform into operations.
  • Solve complex challenges in a timely and appropriate manner, demonstrating critical thinking, flexibility, and independence.
  • Leverage GenAI tools to enhance content development, improve efficiency in stakeholder engagement tasks, and drive data-informed decision-making.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3+ years of relevant communications experience (including managing technical/non-technical communications and stakeholder outreach).
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public health, healthcare policy, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to develop strategic stakeholder engagement plans and impactful communication strategies.
  • Superior writing and editing skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Understanding of plain language writing principles and ability to align deliverables with AP Style guidelines.
  • Adept at managing relationships with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to ensure thoughtful, timely communications.
  • Ability to juggle multiple deadlines, projects, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with Human-Centered Design (HCD) principles and their application to stakeholder engagement and training strategies.

Desired:

  • Training in 508 compliance and accessibility standards for document reviews.
  • Knowledge of healthcare policy, particularly federal initiatives and operations.
  • Experience generating communication plans and artifacts using AI-enabled tools.
  • Experience with change management and adoption strategies, including:
    • Developing risk and resistance mitigation plans.
    • Identifying barriers to adoption and implementing solutions to overcome them.
    • Designing training and communication campaigns that address user needs and foster sustained engagement.
    • Using data analytics and stakeholder input to refine adoption strategies and measure their impact.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.

 

 

Target Salary Range: $57,000 - $97,000
