Overview

LMI seeks a Military Health Business Process Lead to support a federal program management office in Northern Virginia. Join our team of collaborative self-starters focused on delivering practical and efficient solutions to help our Military Health client in support of Warfighter Brain Health programs. The Military Health Business Process Lead serves as the vital link between overarching strategy and practical execution. This position emphasizes evaluating processes, introducing innovative solutions and products, and overseeing organizational change. The role involves pinpointing inefficiencies, advocating for improvements, and implementing changes to enhance team and project efficiency as well as supporting program execution, management and timeliness. This role will lead major initiatives, coordinate cross-functional teams, mitigate risks, and refine processes to boost organizational performance.

 

This position can be supported remotely, but preference is to be located in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area.

Responsibilities

The Business Process Lead plays a pivotal role in connecting high-level business strategy with seamless operational execution. They are responsible for ensuring strategic initiatives are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with the organization’s goals. This role requires strong leadership, analytical expertise, and cross-functional collaboration skills to drive successful implementation of large-scale projects and improve overall business performance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop detailed project roadmaps that translate organizational strategies into actionable, measurable steps, while also supporting the creation of long-term strategic roadmaps to guide transformations and align subsequent activities with project priorities.
  • Ensure initiatives align with the company’s vision, goals, and priorities.
  • Collaborate with teams across Human Centered Design, User Interface/User Experience, Information Technology, product development, clinical operations, and others to coordinate efforts and align on project goals.
  • Ensure a seamless transition to new processes, systems, or technologies with minimal disruption.
  • Effectively manage stakeholders through consistent communication, cross-departmental alignment, and timely issue resolution to ensure objectives and business benefits are realized.
  • Coordinate rollouts of new initiatives, systems, or processes, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Facilitate innovation workshops and training sessions to develop creative solutions for improving military healthcare processes and ensure successful adoption of new systems and strategies.
  • Analyze current workflows, evaluate inefficiencies and challenges, and utilize data-driven strategies to redesign processes, automate workflows, and enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Gather and map project requirements while incorporating Lean Six Sigma methodologies and evidence-based best practices to ensure scalability, sustainability, and optimized business solutions for clients.
  • Track project performance against established Key Process Indicators (KPIs).
  • Collect and analyze feedback to refine processes and support continuous improvement.
  • Support Program Manager in contract execution ensuring project requirements are met on time and to defined standards.

Qualifications

  • Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance abuse, and employment verifications; active U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation preferred. Please note that only U.S. citizens are eligible for a suitability determination. 
  • Bachelor’s degree with required 5 or more years of professional experience in Military Health strategic communications, public relations, corporate communications, or a similar role.
  • Experience with the Defense Health Agency (DHA), MHS Genesis, or other military health IT systems.
  • Proven expertise in stakeholder engagement and management, including coordinating with cross-functional teams, troubleshooting issues, building partnerships, monitoring vendor deliverables, and fostering collaboration to meet organizational goals. (e.g., IT, clinical operations, training, project management).
  • Experience with balancing mission-specific health goals (e.g., Warfighter Brain Health) with broader organizational goals and budgetary constraints in military or government settings.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, assessing vendor deliverables, and ensuring compatibility with project requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading change initiatives, conducting impact assessments, and implementing data-driven strategies to optimize business performance and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Strong background in preparing executive-level briefings, white papers, and Reports to Congress for General Officers and Senior Executive Service (SES) leaders.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, writing and editing skills with familiarity in design tools such as Figma to support visually engaging materials with ability to adapt communication styles and tone to suit diverse audiences and platforms effectively.
  • Ability to utilize best practices and implementation strategies to optimize solutions for client projects and stakeholders.
  • Proven capability in managing teams, budgets, and stakeholder expectations effectively with ability to assess industry trends to optimize solutions within the project.
  • Provides technical inputs to projects and executes technical tasks in accordance with the project technical approach, reports on project progress, and develops material to be used in discussions with the customer.  
  • Proficient in assessing business needs, analyzing requirements and workflows, addressing inefficiencies, and leveraging data-driven approaches to improve processes, systems, and performance.
  • Provide Program Management Office (PMO) support by developing and monitoring contract tracking tools, deliverables, and training requirements.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations with emphasis on meeting objectives, deliverables, and ensuring business benefits are realized.
  • Proven ability to operate autonomously in fast-paced or complex environments, demonstrating adaptability and resilience under pressure.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall project objectives and team success.
  • A flexible mindset to navigate changing priorities, industries, and technologies.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, with a focus on overall deliverables and business benefit
  • Support project leadership and ensure contract execution by identifying and resolving project-related issues, managing deliverables, and meeting timelines according to defined standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), collaboration platforms (SharePoint, ServiceNow, Jira/Confluence), and modeling tools (Visio, Power BI, Excel).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working within the DHA or other military healthcare entities.
  • Familiarity with military mental health/brain health programs and their policy implications.
  • Knowledge of healthcare-specific project management best practices, such as system integration or clinical workflow optimization.
  • Prior experience on government contracts involving program evaluation or organizational change.

Target Salary Range: $130,000-$150,000
