Overview

The Training and Engagement Lead will serve a vital role in helping Army leadership articulate and implement their vision and mission. This role is responsible for translating strategic goals, modernization efforts, and technical plans into highly accessible, user-centric training programs and comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategies. By applying a deep understanding of adult learning principles and user experience, this specialist will design instructional frameworks, lead stakeholder outreach across the enterprise, and facilitate continuous improvement through active feedback loops.

 

This position requires a dynamic facilitator who can build a strong relationship with the client, meet deliverable deadlines, move ideations to execution, and provide strategic change management to deliver measurable community and organizational impact through training and engagement.

 

Location: Aberdeen, MD (Aberdeen Proving Ground)

 

Work Environment: Hybrid (Minimum 3 days per week in person)

Responsibilities

  • Transform strategies, operational processes, and technical plans into clear, intuitive, and accessible training for diverse user groups.
  • Move training concepts from ideation to full execution for military personnel (Enlisted and Officers), Department of the Army Civilians, and potentially industry partners / contractors.
  • Pioneer and manage training content across both classroom-based and digital learning environments.
  • Assess training needs and develop training plans to address skill gaps and support organizational goals.
  • Design, develop, deliver, and evaluate trainings using various instructional techniques and formats, including classroom training, e-learning and workshops.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, trainers, and stakeholders to ensure training content is accurate, relevant and engaging.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback to measure learning outcomes and make continuous improvements.
  • Work with the client and Chief of Staff to manage training logistics, including scheduling, facilities, materials, and resources.
  • Build and maintain deep, trust-based relationships with the client and stakeholders through briefings, outreach, and proactive communication.
  • Act as a liaison and voice of the client to relay messages and provide communications to help stakeholders not only understand but contribute and adopt client’s mission.
  • Establish continuous feedback mechanisms to measure training effectiveness, evaluate user adoption, and execute change management strategies that deliver measurable organizational impact.

Qualifications

  • 5+ Years of experience in training delivery, instructional design, educational program execution, change management, human resources, strategic communications, or organizational/stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and motivate audiences.
  • Proven ability to build strong, consultative relationships with the client and navigate complex organizational dynamics to drive progress.
  • Demonstrated success managing project timelines, meeting strict deliverable milestones, and successfully executing programs from initial concept to completion.
  • Proven ability to quickly assess unique user requirements and pivot strategic delivery methods to ensure comprehension outcomes.
  • Strong background in managing group dynamics, directing interactive sessions, and guiding audience sizes ranging from intimate focus groups to large-scale stakeholder briefings.
  • Capacity to coordinate and professionally engage with military personnel, civilian staff, other contractors, and leadership.
  • Experience designing specialized, adaptive training for distinct demographics at varying technical aptitudes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively and establish credibility with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to obtain DoD Secret. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of experience directly supporting federal clients, preferably within the Army or Department of Defense.
  • Understanding of military culture, rank structure, and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience working alongside technical or engineering teams with the ability to grasp technical concepts enough to help tell the mission story.
  • Knowledge of instructional design software and multimedia tools for content creation.
  • Knowledge of current trends in training and development.
  • Demonstrated success managing the day-to-day operational logistics, scheduling, and tracking required to deploy training initiatives across an enterprise.
  • Proven ability to align training schedules with broader organizational project milestones and operational deployment timelines.
  • Certifications: Prosci Certified Change Practitioner, Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) / Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD), Project Management Professional (PMP).

Target Salary Range: $130,000-$145,000
