Overview

LMI is seeking a Senior Research Specialist to support our team within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)).  This role supports the A&S human resources staff in the Directorate for Business Operations by advising senior level authorities with military staffing, performance appraisals, awards, and professional development to comply with regulatory mandates. Communication with the organization’s senior-level staff and collaboration with a broad range of personnel is also required. The position will be located at the Pentagon. This position requires an Active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

     1. Attention to Detail and Accuracy
           • Demonstrated ability to consistently produce accurate work products with minimal errors.
           • Experience maintaining personnel trackers, reports, correspondence, and onboarding documentation with a high degree of                 accuracy.
           • Ability to perform quality assurance reviews and identify discrepancies prior to dissemination to leadership or the workforce.


     2. Independent Execution and Accountability
           • Proven ability to independently manage recurring tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision.
           • Ability to proactively identify missing information, follow up with stakeholders, and drive actions to completion.
           • Demonstrated ownership of assigned responsibilities and commitment to meeting established deadlines.


     3. Administrative and Workforce Coordination
           • Experience coordinating onboarding activities, personnel actions, workforce communications, executive correspondence, and             meeting logistics.
           • Ability to manage multiple administrative processes simultaneously while maintaining organization and accuracy.
           • Experience supporting senior leaders in a fast-paced executive environment.


     4. Communication and Follow-Through
           • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide timely and complete status updates.
           • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across multiple organizations and follow through on assigned actions.


     5. Data Management and Reporting
           • Experience maintaining personnel databases, trackers, and reporting tools.
           • Ability to collect, validate, organize, and report workforce data accurately and efficiently.
           • Strong Excel skills, including experience managing large datasets and producing recurring reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience supporting executive level DoD leadership, or equivalent experience.
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Thorough knowledge of AcqDemo human resources policies and procedures.
  • Existing knowledge of DoD/OSD, a strategic mindset, good written and oral communications skills commensurate with daily interaction at the Under Secretary level.
  • Possess exceptional attention to detail, manage trackers in a timely manner, update reports without reminders, proactively communicate, demonstrate a high level of confidence when speaking publicly, and is adaptable.
  • Experience in leading and providing technical guidance and direction involving multiple projects of high complexity.
  • Must have experience in managing customer expectations and working directly with customers.
  • Must have outstanding customer service abilities, initiative, judgement, creativity, flexibility, and confidence.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task across multiple projects.
  • Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.
  • Active Secret clearance required.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a dynamic environment requiring sound judgment and minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills with experience managing competing priorities and multiple suspense-driven actions.
  • Experience identifying process inefficiencies and implementing practical improvements.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality work products under tight deadlines.

Target salary range: $140,000-$145,000
