Overview

LMI seeks an Operator Training Consultant to support a Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S Border Patrol (USBP) office in the National Capital Region. Join our team of collaborative self-starters focused on delivering practical and efficient solutions to help our client keep U.S. borders safe and facilitate trade and travel. As part of our high-performing team, you will augment our vital work to provide “eyes and ears” technology to protect our nation. This position can be performed remotely. Occasional travel may be required. This position can be performed remotely, with a requirement to be on the client’s site in Washington, D.C. when requested.

Responsibilities

You will support systems’ life cycle training management activities for our client’s portfolio of programs, projects, demonstrations, and other efforts. As an Operator Training Consultant, you will apply your expertise in operator training principles, instructional systems design, and training program development to ensure operators are effectively prepared to use and maintain complex systems.

This role includes providing Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) input and operator training expertise during the development of key documentation and acquisition, engineering, and logistics artifacts for both the acquisition and operations & support (O&S) phases. You will analyze training requirements, develop training strategies, and ensure that operator training programs are fully integrated into the system’s sustainment strategy.

 

  • Serve as the main advisor and liaison for operational training programs, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  • Responsible for developing, coordinating, and managing various training initiatives and performance metrics, as well as implementing improvement actions.
  • Work closely with USBP managers, team leads, and subject matter experts to ensure that training programs meet current mission requirements.
  • Organize and provide administrative support for site visits, workshops, and remote training activities to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain and update knowledge exchange platforms, such as SharePoint sites, action item trackers, and distribution lists, making sure that information is accessible to relevant personnel.
  • Track the completion of training programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 10 years of experience working with large-scale DoW or civilian government training programs or projects.
  • An active U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation preferred.
  • Working knowledge of USBP or other surveillance technology programs preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • A collaborative team member who maintains a professional attitude in a dynamic environment.

Target salary range: $99,000 - $158,000. Final compensation will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to your skills, experience, education, and/or certifications.
